I'm very much in the 'romantic' camp when it comes to appointing our next boss (I want Kit and Danny) but this would be a step too far.

Sorry Flaspur, but my friend Captain Morgan got me right.....
Having built a team in the image of Pulis to keep us in the Championship this season - then we have to go through more change the following season undoing what he set in train so we have a proper future. A quick fix is all very well but not for me. #Fulhamish means something.

Let's wait and see how Kit does before handing him the permanent job. He was my choice to replace Meulensteen (well, him or Solskjaer, which in hindsight doesn't look such a good shout) and I'd be happy with him now, but let's not be hasty. The club should take a good look at what other options are available while giving Kit his chance, then make a decision. As for Tigana: never go back. And - correct me if I'm wrong, someone - he hasn't exactly covered himself in glory since leaving us, has he?

Indeed, the ideal scenario is that Kit has a run of good results over 4, maybe 5 games and gets the job permanently. Will Khan want to go that long without a permanent manager though? The issue isn't us mere posters on this board being hasty, it's Khan. I hope he gives Kit a chance before plumping for someone uninspiring (and Blue) like Clarke or Hughton.

But you cant afford to get cut adrift in this league.
Everyone CAN beat everyone else and making up points is very difficult. Millwall needed to go on a promotion type run from January and only survived by the skin of their teeth after a similarly poor start last year.

I am sorry to say that McContract will prove a divisive figure in your dressing room in tough times. He is the person who never fails to put an I in team!

    Like we are now?

I take your point, but Jol and Magath were both experienced heads, and Muelensteen came highly rated and that didn't serve us very well. Experience is all well and good but right now we need our club back, and the players need someone they know and will play for. At the moment, Kit is that man.

Similarly I (and I'm sure a lot of others) was left scratching my head when Norwich took on their youth coach, Neil Adams. Look at them now. Only the supporters understand with these situations.

Clarke's Chelsea connection doesn't bother me. I'm not entirely sold on the idea of him as manager (though he's a better suggestion that a lot of the other names I've seen bandied about), but it's nothing to do with Chelsea.

Haha, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't turn down a manager purely for their Chelsea connections, but any excuse to have a stab ;)

You using the word bandied has just reminded me. Where's Bandit? Haven't heard from him for months.

I thought of him when one of the Leeds boys said ours was the politest board on Not606; I was going to retort with "you wouldn't think that if our mate Bandy was about!". Hope he's alright.

EDIT: His profile says he was last active on 21/9/2014. Give us a wave Bandy!

I'd sooner have Clarke or Hughton, although there's not much in it.

You can't say fairer than this:

“I do think you need to know the Club you’re working for,” he said. “For me, things work best at Fulham when Fulhamish decisions are made, if you like.

“And to make those Fulhamish decisions you need to understand the very fabric of the Club and what makes it tick and what the Fulham fans are all about, what they need when they come and watch their team play. Having played for them, I understand that, I understand the fans."

Well said kit. nice interview!

It's not everything, but whenever I'm on an interview panel one thing I look for is evidence that the person wants the job on offer and is excited about the opportunity. Someone with enthusiasm and energy can make a much better impression than a more experienced candidate who is just looking for "a job" rather than "this job". Kit may or may not be the right man for the job, but the minimum I want to see from whoever is appointed is the same level of enthusiasm and commitment that we're seeing from Kit at the moment.

Agreed C58, you would think if he's that interested he'd apply. If of course he hasn't already.
