Do we have the least strikers than any other team in the premiership? Austin and Vargas and that is it. I always be grateful for his goal in the final but lets be truthful Zamora is finished. I said before when Remy was not wanted by Liverpool we should have given him 24 hours to sign a new contract or transfer listed him. When he didn't sign we could have got on with signing two strikers. We didn't, he pulled the strings, and left at the last minute, we left it too late for a replacement and now we have to try and struggle through to January.
I think we do have too few strikers no doubt about it. We were after Defoe and Borini on deadline day so the club know it too, despite the assurances after the window closed. I disagree about Zamora. I still think he's a good impact sub. Austin, Vargas and the midfield have to step up between now and January. Caulker will hopefully be a huge asset from set pieces - 9 attempts in 5 appearances so far. The Remy situation was unfortunate but couldn't have gone down any other way. He signed for us on a "shop-window" basis meaning he had a release clause in his contract dependant on someone matching the fee specified therein. So he was, to all intents and purposes, permanently on the transfer list. Ripping up his contract would've been no good either. We would have been in breach and got nothing when he signed for another club. We had no leverage at all.
No-one worthwhile will want to join us in January if we're in the bottom three, even Defoe is being linked with West Ham now...
I think Zamora was finished last year. When did he last play a full match? When he has come on this year it has been like we have been playing with ten men. Remy situation could have been different we could have transfer listed him and got on with buying replacements. He didn't want to stay with us that was obvious.
Again I disagree re. Zamora. Remy? Do you understand the contract under which he was signed? If you don't then refer upthread to my last post. Keep banging the same drum and I'll be thinking Yappy.
Your entitled to your opinion on Zamora. How many goals has he scored since he has been with us? Certainly at least one person near me yesterday agrees with me regarding him, when he came on yesterday as sub he wasn't at all happy. I believe his contract stated that if a top four club came in for him he could go. Surely your allowed to transfer list a player if you want too He didn't want to be here so that's what we should have done and got on getting a replacement. Actually I think we needed two more strikers. If we couldn't transfer list him that is even worse someone should be accountable.
Well done if you are trolling. I'm actually taking you seriously. The contract stated that if anybody met the transfer fee he could go. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28994304 That dirty aluminium money eh? You're either trolling or not getting it. A release clause means a player is permanently on the transfer list. If you're not trolling what part of that don't you understand?
You should talk to northlondonqpr. He's preparing the hemlock tea even as we speak. But do go on. Why is he not good enough? Genuine question.
a) He's not. I'd put him on average. But he has a hunger and intelligence that dirty aluminium money can't understand. b) He can if the support is there. Unfortunately it's not how we're playing atm. c) Agreed. d) Disagree. It's totally unproven. He's succeeded and excelled every level he's played so far. Give him time. Not stupid Torres time like they did at Chelsea. Agreed? Plus his strengths. He scores goals, he's great in the air and never gives up. As a Rangers' fan you'd know all this though.
One we can agree on I do believe Austin will come good. No I am not trolling and still think Zamora is finished and so do many others. As for Remy unless I have it wrong the release cause was in respect of the four top clubs.
It wasn't. And can I say you've come a long way from demanding we should've stood on our rights and put him on the transfer list to understanding the concept of a release clause. Well done.
Well I haven't seen Remy's contact but I assume you must have. If you have a copy share it we the rest of us and I might change my point of view.
No I'll repeat your point(s) of view. Which then became. Release clause = No leverage. I'll ask again what part of release clause don't you understand?
I didn't think you had a copy of his contract yet you seem to know what we could and couldn't do. But to your view point, strange that..
