Only 5 games gone! Yes, we'd much prefer to be on 15 points with a +10 GD, but we aren't It won't be easy but I firmly believe that we can and will kick on Always easy to be negative!
How long is too long to get the players to gel? Other teams seem to have infinitely better planning in place and have club identities and styles in which they buy players to fit. We just buy whoever the club have herd of and throw them in. The next six games look tricky to say the least. I think a lot of fans are rightly saying its only been five games but in reality its been almost two years now of this utter dross and nothing looks like changing. It makes me so angry how much money we are spending and the huge dellusions of grandeur of Fernandes. Nothing like planned consolodation from day one, club spending well beyond its means... sorry, dont really know what to say. Its just history repeating time and time again and I want someone in charge to control the board and the team to get us through the games like the ones coming. I see us being 5 or 6 adrift of 17th by the time this tough run is over.
No chance to get out of there this season. Just seen leicester, palace and wba play and they are miles better than us. Once again i have to say how pleased i am if iam wrong.
2nd place Southampton next week, we've not done too badly there recently so perhaps Harry will conjure another surprise win there to rile their fans even more. I wish I could believe that will happen but I'm not holding my breath...
Missed the game yesterday so I'm finding all this doom and gloom a bit weird. To try and put it in perspective, Crystal Palace lost nine of their first ten games last year, were 'nailed on' to go down in December but finished 11th. Next week we're at Southampton, we won there in our last premiership season despite...well, you know. So cheer up! We could lose next week and it would be a good omen!
Tomorrow always comes too soon. I know we're both on the same page re. Warnock. I thought at the time Teflon Tone had been Twitter panicked into it. I was wrong. He was fired at the first feasible moment in order for Teflon Tone to obtain a "name" in furtherance of Global/Galactic/Universal/ Domination. Or something like that. Perhaps. All irrelevant to the OP though and a subject for other threads. 4 from 5 is OK, and more or less in line with what most of us thought on here pre-season.
The drink is talking (and I do not drink anymore either, so that G&T is supereffective!!!) But this is the nadir of the season, the only way is up. Yes I will be ill tomorrow.... But no...we will not be relegated
I have two televisions and the screen in my saunacottage and many many tv-channels, I watched them like 60\40 per cent leicester-ManU and Everton-Palace from the screen and the other matches from the telly.....
Positive post: We've looked a proper "team" so far in our home fixtures, albeit a relatively poor one Vs Stoke. There seems to be a spirit and togetherness that wasn't present in 12/13. I think that bodes well, and we'll only improve. OK, Spurs + Man Utd were diabolical performances. But I believe they're entirely the fault of the management. We'd seen the players were capable of giving it a go Vs Hull+Sunderland, so they should've been given the platform to "have a go" in those away games too (via coaching, tactical instruction etc.). Instead Harry et al. entirely neutered their effectiveness with cowardly insipid game plans. But I think Harry will improve too. The amount of stick he's taken for the Utd game (exacerbated by Leicester's performance today) won't sit well with him. His reputed attacking ethos is under thread from the fans and media- being branded "cowardly" isn't something he can live with. So Southampton should see us attack. Kranjkar's looking good, Yun should be available next week, and we've still got Sandro/Mutch/Barton to come back from injury. Plus it sounds like Defoe's a done deal for January!
