Hey...just thought I would throw this out there. So far this season Wickham, Fletcher, Altidore and Graham haven't scored in the EPL. I think Ellis spent over 30 million out of his own pocket on this lot. It would seem at the moment come January we are going to have to go after a new striker. Also, it seems the current policy is the club funds all future transfers. If that is the scenario what happens if we have spent our bit and they will be no more till next Summer? One argument could be that Wickhams five goals last season maybe saved us 60 million. If we are around the bottom three in January would you dip in your own pocket on needs must or wait? There maybe only Wickham that we could get some decent cash for in January to offset against any incomings but we seem at the moment to be stuck with four goalscorers who can't score. Pretty much a bit of a nightmare outlook.... I do think we have a decent squad now. Once up top is sorted and we have two new center backs to groom we will be well on our way....thoughts gentlemen please?
The weakest strike force in the prem good job the rest of the team is decent. all 4 are ****.. but ****ing hell, altidonkey, needs hoofing out..he will never make a decent teaboy.
Hard to argue the point about the weakest strike force....how are we going to unload these guys? Certainly going to take in the shorts on the loss of transfer fees. Then to buy a decent striker in the Prem....10 to 12 million a 'pop' as other teams know we will be desperate...not long ago we had Bent,Gyan and Welbeck up front.....only Sunderland...lol
sad but true....ffs..how far backwards have we gone? people knocj bruce, but look at tha strikeforce compared to the present day ****re.
Altidore looks poor every time I see him!! Wickham played 2 games as a forward and has had zero support in either game so I will reserve judgement until he's given chance with support. Yesterday he got the ball 40 yards from burnley goal on the wing and over 15 seconds had passed before anyone had caught up with him. There's only so much a striker can do Edit: for an idea about 15 seconds, look at Leicester's first goal today. 14 seconds from the kick off. Their team moved half a pitch quicker than most of our midfield could yesterday
Made a point in another post that we play alot better in an uptempo game where we are pressing and going after the game. If we play the one up front the second key man in this has to be Rodwell...at the moment to me he's not getting past the number "9" enough....hence the isolation. What I liked about Leicester against Man Utd is that they went for it...we didn't do that against them which is a shame because if there were ever there for the taking it was then. We are maybe a bit too cautious at the moment....maybe again stemming from the fact about the lack of goals from upfront....
Possibly right la. But it's very difficult to score when you're the only player in the oppositions half!! Roswell is not match fit. He'll only get that with games so we're a bit caught between two stools!! Team comes first though no matter what
Maybe another option than trying to attack through the middle we do it outside with Buckley and Johnson/Mavris on the other wing. Put Gomez in middle instead of Rodwell. Build Rodwell's minutes up from the bench. Rodwell is going to be a great player for us but it's going to take a bit time.....sometimes in the EPL time becomes a luxury as we have seen with Altidore....
Does the squad sit down together on a Monday and watch their performance from the last couple of days? Do they critically analyse themselves? Do they cringe with embarrassment when they see the lack of creativity or effort in certain positions? Does Gus use Fergie's hair dryer on them at certain points during the review? Does any of that happen or do they just turn up and train, smiles and all?
