    What the hell just happened?

Falcao shot doesn't hit the bar and goes in it's 4 1 and everyone's happy.

It doesn't go in, Clattenburg does his usual home fan party trick and United are on the ropes again.

I've put together a short video blog on my thoughts - don't worry it's actually quite laid back - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydEW7xwEiMU&feature=youtu.be

But for me the defence is a huge problem and isn't going away. Rooney as captain just doesn't work. The Moyes effect is going to take time to disappear and 4th is they key. And it's going to be a huge battle to get it.

    Thoughts?

Just watched the LVG post match interview and am concerned how he's blaming Rafael for the pen. It was a dive, Rafael never touched him. And let's be honest, it was the worst refereeing decision of the season so far.

He should have blamed the whole defence. They simply capitulated. I thought he was right in his assessment. I would rather him blame the players than the referee. It's okay conceding one goal but we should have never conceded three more after that. That was disgraceful but I think the defenders will learn hard from this.

Oh yea! Ref was an punk!

Rafa was rash. Never a pen in a million years but hengave tye worst ref around an excuse to continue his grudge against us.

Regarding your final paragraph, though he has his faults, you can't lay the blame on Rooney's captaincy. You could blame him for giving the ball away carelessly for their third but that's about it. No matter who the captain is, you need leaders all over the pitch, particularly the defence. We just don't have that.

Also, the Moyes effect has disappeared overnight as far as the creativity and attacking threat is concerned. The same can happen with the defence. We can't do anything about the players until January. In the meantime, I would rather someone come up with the BEST back line we should play when everyone is fit.

Jones rojo as cb pairing. Purely based on them being strongest out of what we have. Rafael and shaw as full backs.

It always has to be about him. Even today when leicester were brilliant he tried his very best to grab the headlines. Its sad to see.

I'm one of his biggest critics, but I don't think he would be any better than most captains in the prem in that situation. It's a similar problem to Liverpool. You need a Carragher or a Vidic in your back 4 to marshal your defence. You won't have Gerrard or Rooney or Toure (i.e. players in midfield or attack) doing it.

Grade A n0b. Very rarely do I dislike referees as they have a difficult job to do, but he is the most contentious and ethically questionable referee I have seen since Steve Bennett.

New low may be. But some positives: the attack is starting to gel. Falcao look dangerous and could have had a goal. RVP scored too.

Negatives: we are not in the transfer window. No doubt if the defence does not improve I can see LVG buying 2-3 top defenders at high cost plus a holding MF.

This United team will provide us with a roller coaster ride. We'd better get used to it...

In other words, he should have spent over 200m this summer is that what you are saying? :D

Even you have turned on the players you claimed were good enough to win the PL nto so long ago. <ok>

I said United had to spend about £300m in January to have a competitive team. Most here disagreed saying just getting rid of Moyes and a couple of reinforcements would do. Most of the old SAF squad were simply not performing and LVG got rid of many .

I am one of the few who said that we would struggle to get 4th never mind the title. It is the RS who have got dreams of the title.

It is not a question of if but when we will compete for the title again. I am confident that we will bring the players or manager necessary to do that. <ok>

I think had Moyes thrown in 200m in that first summer ye would have done a lot better, Woodward realy failed to get in the quality, this current spell has nothing to do with Moyes although some are trying to blame him. The blame is for the players Fergie left behind, the same players that pretty much f**ed it up for Moyes too.

Sometimes having a bunch of players that can be at the top level till their 30s is a bad thing because they become impossible to actually replace, you can't replace 8 9 10 years at the same club at the top level kind of experience.

So not accepting the bad season under Moyes without drastic overhauls, was shortsighted. lvG has thrown money at it and the same issues remain.

Nah many issues are long gone. Its plain to see. Give us tye ball and we will use it. We will probably score too.

Some remain though. It was always going to take time but the positives were there. We couldn't say that last season.

Could you guys see any positives yesterday? Didnt seem like it based on the reaction

By the way, today was not a new low as the title suggests. Just about every home game last season seemed to eclipse the depths to which we sank. At the end of the day, we're only 4 points off 4th place. Nowhere near panic stations yet.
