Darko Milanic has been appointed as the new Leeds United head-coach, Sturm Graz have confirmed. The former Slovenia international defender is 46 years old. He started football management with Maribor in his homeland, where he won the Slovenian League four times, the Cup three times and the Supercup twice. However he's struggled since moving to Sturm Graz in 2013 finishing fifth in his first season in charge and will leave with the club currently sixth in Austrian Bundesliga. Leeds have poached him away from Austrian Bundesliga side SK Sturm Graz.
On the face of it, a decent appointment. But much will depend on his relationship with Redfearn. Silly question, but does he speak a decent level of English?
The Slovenian coach is leaving the Austrian outfit and will take Novica Nikcevic to Elland Road as assistant. That Nikcevic is poised to also leave Sturm Graz was confirmed by the Austrian side's sporting director Gerhard Goldbrich. The sporting director confirmed to Austrian outlet SportNet that the final deal for Milanic to join Leeds has not been signed off on yet, but added "however we assume that Darko Milanic and Novica Nikcevic will go to Leeds."
Well done Cellino, at least this guy has had a management grounding, and he has won trophies so he understands what it takes to be successful ... he has also played International football, so the players will respect him a lot more than they ever did Hock ... Boggers I somehow don't for one second think much will depend on his relationship with Redders, because this will not determine how well he does ... Redders will be involved in a coaching capacity, and he will continue to advise Donnie on the young talent available, but you can expect Darko to be his own man and to grab this opportunity with both hands ... we have seen how he transformed Maribor from a tiny little unknown outfit into a club capable of upsetting teams in the Chumps Lge while playing good football ... his work has allowed them to build a shiny new stadium, and to continue to develop as a club, and if he can do a similar job at Leeds I for one will be thrilled Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Apparently English is one of them, not sure what the others are, obviously Slovene and I'm assuming German
