We could easily sell some of the dross and use the money to buy one. We were bid £12mil or whatever for Townsend. ****ing sell him and buy somebody who can find the goal without a compass or a map.

From what I'm reading on here, and from Pochettino's comments, it certainly sounds like a few arses need kicking. Hard!

I think that our strikers are being blamed for something which largely isn't their fault.
No service, no width and no support. World class players would struggle under those circumstances.

  5. I think that's true to a very large extent. The stats show that our midfield has created so very few attacking chances for our strikers to latch onto.

However, it is also a fact that there is so little creative movement from our strikers, and they consistently fail to put themselves in a position that provides the midfield with the necessary options to create the chances.

I feel Townsend is a very average player, very greedy as well which is strange.

He has always been that way, a good old fashioned winger, head down and no real ability to look up and spot runners. I say good as really the correct word is crap but he is never going to improve to a point where he is good enough to justify the hype he had last season.

Must be something in the water at The Lane.

How else is it possible for this kind of result to happen, to successive manager/coach's seemingly continuously. Its getting ludicrous, some of these blokes are arriving at the Lane with big reputation.
60 to 70% procession again today and still got beat at the end of the day.

My criticism of Poch for today is that he should of made changes much earlier in the game. This game was crying out for a bit of width. We would've benefited if Lennon had come on say in the 55th min to replace Chadli, of that I have no doubt.

I'm of the option that if Pochettino was still managing Southamton, he would have won this game.

To an extent, yes. But, let's be honest, none of them are anything much more than average. On a good day.

I've been saying since the season started that our wins were not convincing enough. We should have put 4 clean goals passed AEL instead it was two and a penalty. Had we scored five then that would have been right. QPR we fell short and Liverpool told us what we needed to know. I said at the start that we'd have a good start to the season then fall back until we get going again and that must be soon. West Ham we were lucky and I expressed concern at the amount of chances missed at Sunderland.

Now here it is manifesting itself into two home defeats. I don't think I was raising my sights too high as I think I know Spurs well enough to know what sort of scores we should be getting and when they fall short as they have then I know something is wrong. All we can do is keep plugging away and drop Ade.

Hey lads, how's it going? Tough break today. I don't for any second think he should be considered under pressure (though I'm sure a few Saints fans would lose their **** if Levy axed him) but realistically what is the target for Poch this season? What would be acceptable? And how long does he have if it's not going his way?

He needs players that can manage his style and to be honest, I'm not sure you have them right now. Maybe a couple of additions in January will see you guys set up.

    Spurs were lucky against WHU',
    We were fortunate against QPR.
Got what we deserved against Liverpool. OK, now the way things are going, I think we should be grateful for that point from Sunderland.

Think adebayor was poor beyond belief today and soldado did little when he came on...kane should be given a run of matches...and someone who is paid a lot of money to find players needs to find a striker ...
QPR were appalling as were the cypriot team...they account for 9 of our goals
In the other 5 matches we have only scored 3 goals....we failed to score in 3 of those 5 matches.

Oh and if paulinio is your answer to what is wrong on the pitch then you are asking the wrong question...

True, but you'd have to sell a fair few players that are 'dross' to get enough money for the going rate for a top class striker.

That would seriously make your squad small/inexperienced, I guess it's a catch 22 situation.

Well done Bajan, you've caught up with me. Now does anybody here still think Ade is worth the money?

Reportedly, Bony was available for £24mil. Townsend + a couple of other peripheral players.....

We were not lucky v west ham ... 60 mins with 10 men and a last min winner was a very good away from home performance.
We were not fortunate v qpr...they were **** and we were at least 4 goals better than them.
However to have only score 2 goals in our last 4 games and and failing to score in 3 of those games (and in all honesty not looking like scoring) is alarming

Our last win was august 27th...just short of a month ago...and we have played very poorly in 2 of those 4 matches since then, have been defensively dire in 3 of those 4 matches and attackingly poor in 3 of those 4 matches

By next sunday we could be out of the cap one cup and licking our wounds after getting battered by the goons...both of these scenarios are very possible and will cause panic within the club

  19. He should get at least two seasons, but we have an imbecile for a chairman and he sacks managers for fun.

rcl I'm not blaming Paulinho for the loss today, although he hardly helped matters when he came on. But I have said from the day we signed him that I don't see where he would fit into our team, and I have seen nothing from him in his time at the club to suggest that he is the solution to our problems. He came to the club with a reputation for being a goalscoring, box-to-box midfielder - but he has never shown a particular eye for goal with any consistency, he has never had the stamina to perform for 90 mins box-to-box, and to top it all off he can't pass particularly well, often has a poor first touch, and doesn't contribute a lot defensively.

But you're right in a way, I get on his back on here far too much, and there are for bigger problems presenting themselves to the club right now than Paulinho.
