It's been said that Hendo has to do Gerrards running by our own manager, it's time Hendo actually worried about himself and not run 20k a match because no matter how fit he is he will get injured if he keeps playing that way. I'd drop Lucas and have either Allen or Can have a go in what Gerrard does, I mean, Gerrard is a dm who doesn't actuall defend so he's just a m.

Agreed. Without Allen, Hendo is having to do all of the running the midfield. Hendo's game is now impacted. The midfield is a mess, and I was praying that Rodgers would get a DM in the summer.
Gerrard does not deserve his place in the team based upon his performances so far this season. Having said that neither do Coutinho, Henderson or Lucas. I really don't know what is happening. We can't pass and when we do the passes are so hard that they can't be controlled. We appear to be so focused upon retaining the ball that out transition play must be the slowest in the Premiership!. The back 4 (whoever is selected) all look terrified to take control and organise what is happening. It's a complete mess and BR needs to sort it - fast.
I'm looking forward to seeing a midfield of Can, Henderson & Allen to be honest (dunno how likely it is?). They seem to have a good mixture of attributes that could fit in well as an unit.
Whenever Allen got played as the DM he looks terrible I would suggest that Can is the DM or deeper midfielder Hendo and Allen should be the ones going box to box. I've been a big supporter of Stevie and his inclusion in the team last season but I agree with the majority at the moment, he needs to be dropped.
I would argue that Allen was extremely effective in the DM role, especially when he first joined Liverpool. Although I would prefer a Mascherano type, it's not all about size. Allen has intelligend, tactical and positional awareness, mobility and great pressing. One of our most effective defensive players in the whole squad.
Lol my bad. I'm on the new iphone 6 plus and trying to use it one handed! Agreed that he's top class at pressing but his other attributes are under appreciated. His inclusion gives Gerard more protection, gives the midfield more protection, allows Henderson to worry less about having to carry Gerrard.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to say that I took a lot of stick from some fans about criticising players like Gerrard, Johnson and skrtel over the past 2-3 years. Amazing that once you take away the world class attack that fans actually see how poor these players are because they have nothing to hide behind. I agree, from what we've seen this season, Stevie does not justify his place in the team. The problem is, if you take him out then you only have 1 recognised DM in the squad. I would be tempted to put Henderson in Gerrard's role. However, he too has been ponderous and shown little imagination when on the ball. None of us truly know if Can is really a DM - or if he's a box to box player. I agree with you that Allen is not the man for the DM role. That leaves us with Lucas who I think can do the job provided he has Henderson & Can with him. However, when you field a defensively minded midfield then you are going to have to sacrifice attacking flair and put perhaps too much responsibility on your play-maker.
You know where you can stick your apology JS! We are talking about what we see on the pitch THIS SEASON and not what was happening over the last 2-3 years where, quite frankly, you were totally wrong. So let's see you have just a little humility.
i think we should stick gerrard further forward personally and kill hopefully 2 problems with one, his defensive duties or lack of, and his shooting which he once had, and hopefully we might start scoring more. give the opo something to worry about for a change, and we know he used to be able to score 30 yrd goals, who else can? i think sturridge maybe ish can but injured, and ballo and borini not really lol. don't think any of our mid are capable either, well consistent any way. i would have a front 3 of Sterling,Ballo and gerrard for now, at least until sturridge comes back anyway. and mid of Allen,Lucas and Henderson. yeah gerrard might only last 60-70 mins a game, no dif from now really, accept playing him further forward we can replace him with either lambert, or really desperate borini. actually, maybe to give ballo a kick up the bollocks as well, have lambert in instead of him.
