He's quick athletic and mobile. He believe he could play DM but I think he also has more to offer.

He's shown on a couple of occasions for LFC (both in the league and preseason) but my comment was more on his time at Leverkusen.

Give Tobes his due, he's right on this one. We have not seen enough of him playing in our shirt to make definitive comments on his skills and his best position. However, we do know that the team will be stronger with both he and Hendo playing in it - how and where is for BR to decide!

Annoyingly, you're spot on and couldn't have put it better myself.

He has a role to play when he can get time on the ball and play his passes, but if anyone marks him and presses us quickly, he's not the best to play that role.

Happy Anniversary Stevie!! You've been a passenger for a whole year now.

Today saw another event, in that Rodgers made a change before the hour mark, so there we have the birth of a teeny tiny pair of testicles for Rodgers, maybe with time and encouragement, they may grow, and one day, he may develop a man sized pair and drop Stevie, or maybe just sub him off in the 88th minute.

I have to feel so sorry for our attack, as for all this season, there has been a 20 yard swath of pitch between the halfway line and the opposition's D, that no Liverpool midfielder appear able to cross, and we just have to huff it up to the front and hope for a miracle. It is that 20 yard swath that was where Stevie used to operate, but now he is old and slow, and can't move that far these days, what since football pitches must be made of velcro, since a 30 odd year old bloke can't appear to move across it too well.... 18 months ago, Lucas was a hero, but since Stevie has been squatting at his gaff, he has started to look pants. Rather than thanking Stevie for all the good times and putting him in a glass case in the museum, and letting players who can still play, actually do their job, Stevie is still hobbling up the pitch on his zimmer frame, meaning not only are we playing each game with 10 men, we also have a black hole in the centre circle that sucks up all the creativity and skill, and renders the rest of the midfield useless and unable to do precious more than pass it around at the back, or hoof it out of play.

Although wouldn't have put it quite like that... the general point is correct.

The way we play with fast quick movemebt doesn't suit him as he wants to drop back, get the ball from CB's and spread play. Means we can't play through the middle with quick passing and movement. Said in matchday thread, give me a midfield 3 of Can, Henderson and Allen with Sterling Ballo and Sturridge ahead of them and let's see what it can do.

Currently I would offer more on the pitch than Gerrard does.

What's happening is he's being picked because he's called Steven Gerrard. It's England syndrome. Drop him and do it now.

Henderson and Lucas were just as bad, can we drop them all?

It's alchemy, you have to try just dropping Stevie first, and see if that revitalises those around him.

Don't understand that. Clearly he has more ability, goal scoring and creativity than any other midfielder we have. Clearly it isn't working playing him as a defensive midfielder this season so drop someone else who is not having an impact on games (which could be any of our midfielders) and give Gerrard more freedom to do what he does best

But what does he do best?
He's not the Gerrard of 10 years ago who is making box to box runs, scoring 25 yard screamers crunching into tackle etc...

Sorry but was is the word here. He was creative, he was a goal scorer. He is really really struggling to even get turned on the ball now when the cbs give it to him. If Rodgers even tried a pirlo and sent him to play between the oppositions midfield and defence to find a he to play in it's be something but to watch a guy who was so great just really struggle is not good

I'd rather he come off than Lucas and at least Lucas be asked to play dm and stand cos frankly putting Lucas box to box is stupid

Rodgers hasn't got the bottle to drop him, as he can't make an enemy of Me La, as it'll be his death warrant, and he knows it.
