We've too many panicky payers rushing around trying to prove themselves worthy of the starting place. Old guys suddenly realising their replacement may have been bought and the new guy too eager to prove. From back to front all trying little clever touches and looking up when receiving the ball even under pressure resulting in bad first touches and hurried passes. Just keep it simple and pass it quickly. Every single player from defence up is trying the killer ball then scrambling to cover the interception as everyone has moved with the assumption the pass would be good then stops and watches the consequences like they're sitting in the stands.. Spectators in other words. With no one leading on the pitch because they're too busy trying to make what little of their game is left look too important to drop. So, no calm, no discipline, no simplicity. Trying to he too clever by half. I'll give Brendan until the new players are bedded in and a few returned from injury but then ill criticise him every match he doesn't have the balls to do what needs to be done.
Moreno was a donkey today. Did jack squat with all that space ahead of him, as West Ham was flattering Sterling's flank with all the attention.
I don't understand the 'buy 2-3 quality players' comment. Ok let's look at the best defenders in the world: Hummels Kompany Thiago Silva Ramos Pique Pepe Boateng That's just center backs. Out of all them, Hummels would be the only one I could see leaving and that fee would be 20 million plus, the rest would be out of budget and would not move. So let's go towards full backs: Dani Alves Jordi Alba Marcelo Lahm Zabaletta Kolorov Ivanovic Piszczek Alaba I would feel we could get three of them (Piszczek, Kolorov, Dani Alves) one of them is thirty, the other one would ask for silly wages so that leaves Piszczek which I could of seen us get. We opted for Manquillio, so we have him, Johnson and Flanagan, which is more than enough for right backs. In the end we opted for youth who would be willing to play for us and on decent wages. When you look at the bigger picture we have signed 2-3 quality players within our means.
Brenda's "give it to Mario" tactic hasn't worked quite as well this season. Still, nice to see him try 3 at the back today. It's very in vogue.
Well, that was the worst performance I've seen since last week ... Everything was wrong - Skrtel and Lovren proving what sh*t defenders they are, Sakho completely without confident and playing just as poorly. The lack of a midfield in the form of Gerrard and Lucas. Sooner we get Allen and Sturridge, the better. But Rodgers really needs his head checking if he thinks Skrtel is deserving of coming straight into the team. Lovren and Sakho aren't the best but they have the potential to form a partnership.
How brave of you, you only appear when you beat QPR 4-0 citing work as the reason you havent been on previous
Sakho reminds me of Joey Yobo, a ten Bob headed clumsy cart horse of a CB, who makes you wince every time he's in possession at the back
Everything was wrong, painful to see. BR needs to earn his dollars now. We will be a better team with Studge of course, but atm we look terrible
Pretty much this. Yes we lost Suarez, but we;re also without Sturridge. Instead, he have Borini (who is simply not good enough) and Balotelli who isn't used to our style. For me, the problem remains with GK, CB's and central midfield. The sooner we get Valdes in, the better - he may be dodgy but he is a proactive keeper with conviction in his decision making. He's a good communicator also. Skrtel and Lovren continue to cause panic, and Sakho is making a few errors as well. Gerrard is not different to last season - except his set pieces aren't as good. Amazing that once you take away that one ability, that people actually notice his poor contribution from open play. Lucas is just not at the races. In summary - defence and DM are as shambolic as last season. They just don't have a world class attack to bail them out.
1)We'd miss Suarez 2)Sturridge would get injured. 3)Can't remember the third: Gerrards done? Well done, you prophesied the obvious. Except:Not remotely a crisis; that's melodramatic bullshit because: we were not winning the league anyway, we understood what so many new but necessary players would do to team harmony. We knew that no Suarez (again wouldn't have been available at this point anyway) would no longer mask the glaring issue in our middle. There's issues and concerns but it's not the Doom a couple on here (are you one or them?) seem to be enjoying wallowing in. Plenty of criticism to go around but in terms of competing for top four and domestic cups absolutely nothings been lost yet, none of the issues being shown are unfixable with the current squad and so it's far too early to be making martyrs of ourselves..... It's not that thin a line. Bad game , poor form , correct to criticise it but have faith that this lot will get their act together.
Why not? It's an issue over a number of games but it's not an excuse for an entire season like some would use....or was that **** squad....or was it **** manager now you lot use....it changes so often...**** manager I think isn't it since you won a game last week? couple of defeats in a row and it'll be back to 3 year rebuild again I'm sure......
I've just been avoiding you.. plus I am busy at the office. Business won't run itself unfortunately. Feel slightly aroused by the fact you've noticed and clearly missed me...
First goal from set piece... no real surprise there is there. No one bothered to mark the goal scorer yet again and someone decided Hederson was the best person to mark their CB. 2nd goal, well, should have been a foul and red card for Noble in this day an age, was a 2 footed tackle no doubt. 10-15 years ago was a great tackle though so make of that what you will. After that, we were empty on the middle Lucas & Gerrard were no where to be seen to allow the guy to roll it to the scorer. Moreno was in an awful position but got back ok and Mig ****ed up coming too far out. 3rd goal, well we were pushing for equaliser so not too many complaints, but again a dodgy header from Sakho into the middle of the park where we had 0 midfielders. Why were all 3 of our midfielders standing on the left touchline leaving a 50 yard gap in the middle Then Gerrard jogs back with the scorer but instead of following his run into the vacanct RB space, Gerrard decides to jog back into the middle of the pitch leaving him totally unmarked Last season, our CM was poor and needed reinforment. This season, it's poor and needs reinforcement despite spending £100m Can't wait for Can & Allen to get fit again so can play a mobile midfield of Hendo Allen Can. Not that it'll ever happen.
Just wondering if you hadn't set the pace in dismantling my team ( for which Brenda says he doesn't feel sorry for & doesn't gives **** about, which is nice & classy of him) then might we have been top today? Instead, like you we have 3 newbies in the back 4 & a new goalkeeper to accommodate, last seasons leading goalscorer is out until January and like Liverpool we have a new striker and winger to gel into our system. So like you when it all comes together we should also improve on our current position. Not that I'm using excuses for underperforming or anything.
