I must say I think we are really spoiled with the standard of race commentators at the moment - Simon Holt, Ian Bartlett and Richard Hoiles are all top notch IMHO Presenters I like are Claire Balding and Nick Luck but the others are so-so.
Having seen the false ground at Newmarket, I will be giving that a miss today. These idiots did not read Richard Hughes piece about the evils of watering in the Racing Post a few Saturdays ago. I can remember a time when they were only allowed to turn the taps on when it was like concrete. Where they had no watering at all at Bath the going was regularly described as “Hard” and there was plenty of “Firm” during the summer months elsewhere. At that time the Ebor meeting used to be a joke because every year John Smith would water the track before the meeting (it was three-day, Tuesday to Thursday then), it would rain and it became a bookies’ benefit.
ABout 10 minutes ago I saw that Real Madrid were winning 4-1 away at La Coruna and thought that must be a good match so got the live stream up. **** me Chicarita has just made it 7-2 with an absolute belter
Very excited to see Alton Bay in the last at Listowel now - hope the ****ing live stream holds up. These things have a happen of working perfectly when there's nothing you're interested in and then ****ing up at the very moment you want it to work. 4/1 Alton Bay - that looks a very fair price to me. If he can win this giving weight away (which I think he will) he could be one of the stars of the winter.
Am I missing something Oddy? Why are you so keen on that horse? His forms fairly good. It's not brilliant.
I think I have a new favourite sprinter in Mecca's Angel, a year on from now I hope I am suggesting that she has a chance at Longchamps. Lovely performance from a young sprinter.
It is the most humane way of doing it, when a horse breaks a leg racing it doesn't feel a thing coz of the adrenaline (just like that runner broke his leg in the Olympics never felt a thing) but once the horse calms down the pain will of course be excruciating and cause more damage and feel pain, the horse will have no quality of life so they put him/her down and that is the kindest way of doing it so they don't feel any pain
Still a young horse Bob, just think he has great potential- Big ask giving Rebel Fitz 7lbs today. Not saying he is going to win the Supreme or anything, he's just caught my eye as a nice horse.
