If we play like that against Man City, I can see them kicking our arse. Dawson and Davies aren't even at fault, we're just too complacent. Playing 3-5-2 against Man City is a must. If a Newcastle side in disarray can put two past us with 15 minutes to go, can you imagine what the Blue Mancs could do?
It isn't a good point when your playing a team bottom of the league who have only scored one goal all season, a team in complete disarray and throw away a two goal lead with 15mins to go. These are the matches you should win. Especially when you are playing the big teams next.
It's a false position. I highly doubt Newcastle will be bottom at Christmas and as has been said already, we're five games in with only one league defeat, think most of us would've taken this at the start of the season.
i watched on a stream , Did Robertson have a bit of a strop at SB when he was subbed ?? it looked like he did . Cant really fault the team or performance today , as the goals were just down to one or two silly errors . I did shout at the Computer as Quinny never looked up to make his failed pass - Feels like a defeat even if i'd take a point before the start - \ We do need to be better at ball retention
If he did he's a silly boy cos it was him who let them have a free header at the back post for the equaliser wasnt it? They should employ Andy Dawson to teach Robbo how to defend as a left back should cos he is seriously at fault, cant fault his attacking prowess mind.
True. But surely you adjust your expectations based on what is happening in the present. We have thrown away 4 points in one week.
Agree on McGregor. His poor handling/positioning have cost us six points in three games (Stoke, Hammers, today) and his howler at Lokeren resulted in our exit from Europe. Against that he saved the penalty at QPR. Problem is Harpers positioning/slowness is even worse and Jakupovic is also error prone.
As was said above, were only five games into the season. Newcastle won't be there by the end of the season, they're not a bad team and SJP is a hard place to go. People are expecting too much.
This being the internet, everyone is being too keen to have one extreme view or the other. Face it: our league form and results this season have not been great and have not been awful.
Depends on how you're looking at it. Relative to now, yeah I guess it is a bit annoying that we were winning and just drew. But in terms of the overall season, I think it's a good point away from home against a team that will probably finish above us. I'd have thought most people's expectations would be to finish mid table, maybe about 15th. But the way some people are reacting today it's like they're expecting us to push for the top four. Our expansive attacking play stands us in good stead for when we come to play Manchester City next week.
Listened on radio as at work and it seems other than 2 absolute belting goals, Newcastle sounded the better team. BBC sport reckons they had 63% possession and 25 shots (7 on target) therefore I'm happy with a point but we should have had 3. Got to go back to 3-5-2 and get Chester back in for a bit of stability. Anyhow, onwards and upwards and bring on the Mancs - surely 3 points in the bag next home game........
Of course on paper the result will looks okay come the end of the season but right now we have thrown away 4 points in one week when we where leading. Yet our defensive frailty against the lower half table teams, stands us in good stead for an arse whopping.
Some Newcastle fans are on 5Live spitting feathers that they only drew with 'Little Hull City'. I'm gutted we drew today, but are we getting ideas above our station a little? We have a talented squad and it looks at the moment like they need time to gel. I appreciate we need results, but it's only natural that the squad needs time getting used to playing together. If we're drawing when the squad is gelling together, we could be in for a treat when things finally click.
