I'd love to stand in front of a line of striking teachers and tell them it's their own time they're wasting.

It is quite obvious to me that MUFC Jimbo has one hell of a chip on his shoulder. If you are so jealous of teachers, why the **** don't you try becoming one ?
Typical of people who hate their job and spend their lives moaning about how much better off other people are. What a ****ing ****er <grr>

as an ex teacher I can tell you that its not all rosy like some portray on here

The holidays you talk about are for the kids, we never had 5 weeks off it was 2 like all others then back to training etc. Same in other holidays.
and when we did have holidays it wasnt a choice, no cheap weeks away in off peak times, it always coincided with peak times

Also the complaint is about teachers having to work 8 years longer and still lose money, not a joke when in other professions you can retire at 50-55

A typical day for a teacher doesnt start at 9 and finish at 3.15

It starts at 7.30 and finishes at 7.30

I never left school before 5 and after having tea it was more prep, lesson plans etc and finished at 11pm most days

They're moaning about having to take cuts, the same ****ing cuts others have been taking for years, and trying to get others who have a tougher time than they do to sympathise with them. Oh how my heart bleeds for them!

In what line of work can you retire at 50-55 unless you're a millionaire? The retirement age for the majority of other professions has been 65+ for years, it's about bloody time it was same for teachers. Welcome to the real World.

Teacher's pensions are still a lot better than those of many other professions.

its not quite the same though is it?

This isnt just about losing jobs as some are facing

Its about putting in your time and money then being told we messed up so you going to have to work untill your 68 and pay more to get back less

I don't remember people in the private sector holding protests and refusing to work over the cuts they've had to put up with. They just got on with it.

There has been a ****ing recession, there is less money in this country and yet they don't expect to have to make the same sacrifices others have to make.

I know police/firemen who retired at 55 and were not millionaires

teachers pensions are getting screwed over and thats why they are striking. It maybe better than some professions and if they were to change them for new entrants etc there maybe no strikes. But a 30 year veteran or whatever to be told all that means **** all is bit wrong

Good. They're teaching the little brats that ****wits like you bring into the world and are earning a fraction of what some banker is earning while selling the country down the river while lining his or her own pocket.

More power to them is what I say!

Which sacrifices have others had to make?

You make no sense. You're just a deluded idiot who has met a couple of teachers in his life and thinks they have it easy. There are thousands of teachers in this country, there will be some **** ones. Your grief seems to change as the thread progresses and you get proved wrong.

Give it up you sad, jealous little tosser <ok>

I'm not even University educated and can say that I would never want to be a teacher because it simply doesn't pay enough. I have no idea why a talented person would ever want to take a low paying job teaching young children that required such a high level of personal education (unless it was a job that suited them because they had young children themselves or something similar).

Fair play to them for striking I say, they know they are underpaid just like everyone else knows they are.
