UnitedinRed, you posted that the problem has always been religion, I'm not sure I can agree with you. A few years ago I was reading an article about an England v Scotland match and the author referred to Scotland as "The world's biggest single collective inferiority complex." There I think is the problem. The Scots have been talking about independence for a long while now and there was also an attitude of"If only England would let us." Some Scots obviously look or looked on England as the boss who decides everything which is not the case. I don't really know how to end this comment, there's more but I don't know what.
I consider myself very P.C. In this matter. I'm an equal opportunities detestor. I detest all politicians equally!
Exactly Spurf, one of my main reasons for voting Yes was because a Yes would of changed politics in England, Scotland, Wales & N.Ireland forever.
Spot on but it's typical I'm alright Jack mentality, the 65+ put themselves above their children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren.
Politics are politics, and always will be. You can't change that. You could hope to replace the current odious bunch of sleazebags with something more salubrious, but that's about it.
Because imo it's elitist. For me the power should be shared more evenly, instead of Westminster dominating and making the big decisions.
TMT you need to read more. This thread is is all about the reasons we wanted Independence for Scotland and among those reasons, because like KingHotspur I too am English and live in Scotland, among those reasons is the hope that an Independent Scotland would encourage England to go for change as well. Now this has been debated on this thread in depth so I suggest you look back at it, because I am sure nobody else want's to go over all of this again.
The only way you could do that would be to have 4 independent nations which would all be minnows. had the yes vote won Spain's PM said it would have been at least 8 (eight) years before Scotland's application to join the EEC would even have been considered. On what would you have survived? How are you going to share power between four nations?
Spurf, you have just given yourself away in your reply to me. You only mentioned England changing and not Ireland and Wales as I posted. I've long posted that to the Scots Wales and Ireland do not enter their thinking, only England and you have just proved it. So this had nothing to do with England then? Yes right. This had nothing to do with breaking away from the UK, only England.
Have you seen this Spurf? Sure this won't appease the Yes camp!
Inconclusive. But you can undeniably see "Yes" votes on the "No" table. So more questions than answers like... what the hell are they doing there and what was that woman doing swapping ballots around on piles nilly willy? I also heard of numerous fire alarm incidents at other voting/counting stations where buildings were cleared. Make your own mind up!
The ballot papers were counted twice so was this the first or the second count? If it's the first then the irregularities would have been rectified in the second count. If it's the second count it's still inconclusive as you post.
What are you talking about I AM ENGLISH get it! I have not heard anybody say that Scots are anti Welsh or anti Irish on this thread. It is you with your continual obsession that this is all about the Scots and the English it is not it is about WESTMINSTER
There's a Police investigation going on into voting fraud in some cities. Were you aware of that? http://news.sky.com/story/1338354/police-probe-glasgow-voter-fraud-allegations
I think most of us in the YES camp are not disputing the electoral process these votes were not sorted, it is quite normal for them to be mixed at this stage. There may have been some very minor infringements but nothing to affect the result.
