My obsession? Really? This is one thing that's really disappointed me about the Yes campaign. Any disagreement and you're an idiot and a heretic. My obvious point is that you quoted Irvine and then dismissed NSIS's opinion as he wasn't there. Chicago being much closer to Scotland than Spain, clearly...
Irvines piece does not depend on being there. NSIS arguments based as they were, like yours and most in England, not on what was actually the case but the case as presented by the totally biased media. A classic example being you joining in the vilivication of Alec Salmond a man who has dedicated his political life to Scottish Independence with enormous effort and integrity. A man who is loved in Scotland and a man who has just resigned as we knew he would win OR lose. You chose to join in this establishment vilivication of man that the establishment feared and in doing so you support their case. I know you like a debate PNP so I don't blame you for joining in but in this case your knowledge as with the majority on here is seriously flawed because that is exactly what the establishment wants it to be. As DL rightly said if YES had 20% of the media we would have won. We lost because the over 65's took their info from the TV and MSM just like you. So when I find an article that actually presents the YES point of view, albeit after the event, I am going to publish it. I am not ashamed to say that any body in Scotland that failed to see the case, the overwhelming case for Independence was either wealthy and land owning or stupid. The stupids over 65 voted No to save their pensions and the NHS How stupid can you get? We will all see during the course of the next few years as TTIP destroys the NHS for us all.
Why do I get the feeling that if the older vote had gone the other way it'd be because they're experienced and wise, Spurf? Having read all of the pro-Yes stuff that you posted on here and looked into some of it, I got the same impression as NSIS. Some of it was wildly optimistic, other parts were completely cherry picked and some were just based on utter speculation. The idea that Scottish MPs would suddenly all split away from modern politics and become wonderful individuals, fully behind making the place a delightful utopia was just weird. Why would they be any different to the current mob, all desperately trying to get elected with the mishmash of Please Everyone, Please Nobody ideas? I saw nothing to suggest this. As for Salmond, the fact that he appears to have based his entire career on one issue is part of the problem. He seemed to chuck it into absolutely bloody everything and has now quit, avoiding the question of whether he can actually do his job without it. His expenses and saying idiotic things, like his Putin comments and admiration for UKIP, show a complete disregard for those that followed him.
Both of the quotes you mentnioned were grossly distorted as for him doing his job he has done that very well for the last 7 years. That is why Scotland has free Universtity tuition, free prescriptions, and the bedroom tax has been offset by his Scottish Government, that is why he was re-elcted with the first Scottish parliament overall majority. I don't remember anybody saying it was all going to be wonderful with Independence, I and others just pointed to the plans and the means to carry them out. The whole debate on policies has been dictated by the No camps power with media. It was never about policies it was about Democracy and Power. It suited the No camp very well to talk of this or that policy we could not say we didn't want to talk about it, therefore we had to talk about these fictitious policies. You ask why would they be different, because THEY ARE different ALREADY. As I have said I have met 6 Ministers of Government in Scotland and that is one very big difference. I'm sorry PNP unless you are here in Scotland you cannot make comments like that and expect me to take them seriously
Why do I get the feeling that if the older vote had gone the other way it'd be because they're experienced and wise, Spurf? Because PNP they would have been, but they didn't and they aren't. PNP
Yes, I did. Almost fell off my chair pissing myself laughing!. If viewing me like that makes you happy, please be my guest. I can assure you that the reality is entirely different.
I'm not offended. I just could never let myself go like that. I work very hard in the gym 4-5 days a week, and am fitter now than I've been in 20-25 Yrs. Having paid that bastard taxman a king's ransom over the years, I'm determined to live long enough to get some of it back. Even if it is a relative pittance.
The problem is and never has been england. It's always been religion. Be the scotland we saw at the commonwealth games. Thats a scotland you can all be proud of. **** religion and football rivalry. Part of a union or not you are always scottish and always British. You can never change that.
Spurf I have been so tied up with work and recently just came back from the UAE but back for good now. Even out there it was one of the main topics of conversation. Gutted for Scotland but also for the rest of us as it means no hope and the reality that we'll never be free from these tyrants.
The US are 300 million people legally united to promote the welfare of a piece of paper. Youâd think our problem would be that arrangement, or the piece of paper. Instead itâs the 300 million welching on their obligation, since it only involves honor and ethics, thereâs no money in it, and it looks like it might be dangerous. As to that, the greatest Pennsylvanian had the perfect response: "Those who would sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither." The great thing about the last era that brought the world lots of exciting new music was that it was nearly the first where instead of trying to seem attractive, likable and cool, bands tried to seem ugly, hateful losers.
Probably with some anti english rubbish about how weve kept you as slaves or some nonsense. Follow that up with some hatred of your fellow scots for having a different opinion to yourselves. Then make some vines trying to show no voters in a bad light. A handful of 2million. Yet ignore the small number of idiots in the yes camp as it doesnt suit.
This has never been about being anti English it is about being anti Westminster and this should unite people in all four countries because we all suffer from their elitism.
I was born and raised in England, only moved to Scotland last year and tbh will probably move back to England at some point in the next few years. I've never once posted an anti-English post. I don't like Cameron and Westminster, I have nothing but love for England and will always consider it 'my country'.
