Mane has been hanging around for over a week waiting for his work permit and arrived yesterday. Ron said he would have to see his condition when he arrived. I doubt he'd have been mentally or physically fit when he hadn't been training properly for days and wouldn't understand the league or team at all. He also remarked that we'd been winning without Mane so there was no need to panic. Not a surprise really.
Indeed. And it's not setting a good example to drop Yoshi for then new kid when he has played well. I'm sure Gardos will be an upgrade but perhaps his approach is to gently bed in new players (where possible)?
I can see why Koeman opts to leave Wanyama on the bench. He prefers playing Morgan in that deep holding role. Morgan offers as much as Wanyama in terms of protecting the back four, and a lot more in attack. And Cork/JWP/Davis are much more comfortable playing a bit further up the pitch than Wanyama is, so he misses out.
I think it's a good sign we have decent choices and a manager who is a thinker. Won't always come off because matches are not always predictable...a fine margin sometimes between a goal and a miss, but overall I trust Koeman.
I speculated a day or so ago that Ron might be looking to keep Vic for the Arsenal game midweek. Gunners struggle against physicality and thats Wanyama in a nutshell.
Seem to remember that Swansea was the venue for possibly Mayuka's best ever Premier League moment......that time he nearly scored with a toe poke
Especially when you consider that Wiltshire was trying to shoulder charge Vic using all his strength.
Tiss has just mentioned that Souness said in a team meeting that Matty was often just a passenger. Yes, Graeme, a passenger who turns out to be an ex-Seal and Air Marshall who saves everyone
I think Morgan and Cork are more than up to the task of stopping the Swansea midfield, whilst still giving an attacking edge Wanyama doesn't have.
Sky just shown our 41 pass goal and a nice interview with Cork and Bertrand. Both saying that everyone brought in has gelled.
