Utd have spent more net this season than our total for the last three seasons and I read somewhere that utd recent splurges (remember the £60+ from last season) means that in the nonsense stat of PL spend manu are now ahead.

Manyoo also had a squad full of ageing players with little or no resale value, hence the net spend differential

759m for united to 767m for liverpool. City and chelsea top a billion. Spurs 609m. Everton 300m.

And as organic said re aging players. Many united players remain herenfor the long term and are not sold on. We dont often profit from selling players.

Your squad was only s**te due to buying kelt and not due to the kopite mantra of lack of resource. You had 11 players out on loan last season including one that you paid £11m for.

Giggs, vidic, rio, evra, cleverly, nani, welbeck, hernandez.

8 players in the first team squad left. 6 brought in. Many other fringe players gone.

    Whole different side.

but still a completely dif starting point to utd and their squad compared to us?

they have added £150 mill worth of players to a title wining team, and one already setup for European football, they have replaced wellbeck with falcao, we replaced suarez with in effect marcovic, and need a squad to cope with European football as well.

we have always been coming from dif angles to them and you ruddy know it, you have spent what £50-60 mill worth of players to keep mainly what you had last season, and thats just to keep you where you currently are in 6th, so the fact we get this money bollocks thrown at us but it doesn't work when its against utd, is just bollocks.

they have added £150 mill worth of players to a squad setup to win the prem and have European football, and this is a team who finished 7th, when we finished 7th the squad comparisons are miles apart, also we sold a world class player.

we managed to get 2nd with a crap bench, they should be wining the prem with what they have spent and already had, no excuses.

Nani, Welbeck, Cleverly and Hernandez have all played for yoonited this season, so have clearly contributed to their mighty gaalactic 5 points.

more like you are getting yours in for spending £150 mill to add to a title wining squad and one setup for European football when you don't have any.

So barely a difference gross (and that could prob be argued either way picking over the prices) however, no matter what you say, nett spend is the main thing eg look at the ratio in evertons gross/nett compared to LFC or Utd and it shows that clubs that do have to care about money end up buying more players because they need to generate cash to buy better players

Manu have made plenty of money over the years with clubs overpaying for avg squad players because they have played for manu. Either way if not many leave then surely that means you dont have to buy as many top players to replace them?

Net spend is irrelevant. Unless i can bring all uniteds revenue into it. How a clun makes its tranfer money varies from club to club.

Utd now clearly have an excellent if somewhat unbalanced squad so that combined with the "part time season" means that utd have NO excuse not to do well this season.

Go 'way lad, title winning team? Their team finished 7th last season and everyone and his dog knew that their last title under Ferguson was down to his genius more than the quality of the squad he did it with, last season merely re-enforced that view.

So they've overhauled their squad with massive money after losing a handful of their stalwarts. The sheer size of the spend means that they simply have to deliver this season now, not the title, but certainly top 4.

My point was that your spend is also massive over the last few years, so you've no room to talk really

    <laugh>

It was Beavis who said 6 days ago that yoonited can win the title and yesterday said its a disadvantage not having Europe.

And you twist it and accuse us of excuses, you're losing the plot UIR.<laugh>

If we were making excuses it would be because we finished lower than 4th last season, only you are making feeble excuses like Van Gargle to cover what would be a major embarrassment after spending all the money and guaranteeing at least 3rd, but that statement came before the one about the title being on and his new one about the topic of this thread.

    He's a ****ing lunatic without a plan.<ok>

Oh absolutely..... When a guy is looking for an excuse anything is a good one. Sure the thing that was thrown in our faces not 6 months ago is completely different when it applies to utd

But I'm glad to know they are getting excuses in now as it means the winning mentality is gone
