Everything points to us winning this game. That worries me.

Think Brucey will go back to 3-5-2 for this one. Team picks itself.

Early City goal = a definite advantage.

SJP boils over, players' heads go down, Pardew throws a wobbler.

    What's not to like?

The match last year was played on the same Saturday as this year and we came back twice to win 3-2. Hope there are plenty of goals again to keep me awake until it ends around 2 am. Think the best we will do is a score draw but Newcastle will get their first win of the season sometime!

For some reason we do seem to play Newcastle away in September.

We have won both games as and I think we won a FA Cup game under Brown as well.

Personally if everyone is fit it'll the same side as Monday.

We've a better squad with better spirit at the moment. We work harder than they do. Our manager is loved, theirs is hated. Absolutely everything points to us winning this but...its us.

Just hope the off pitch shenanigans don't affect the game too much, unless it's to help us win ofc!

Aye it is but from my own playing days anarl.

Lets not forget they arent a bad team and they've still signed a few decent players this season. That janmaat for one.

Often makes them pull together after a bad defeat.

Hope not obviously and they start scrapping with each other.

    I would like to see.

    -----------------McGregor

    Elmohamady----Dawson----Davies-----Robertson

    -----------Huddlestone-----Livermore

    ----------------------Diame

    -----Ramierez---------------------Brady

    ------------------Hernandez

    Harper - Rosenior - Chester - Quinn - Meyler - Ince - Jelavic

Interesting that we have so many quality players that aren't even on the bench.

Bruce, McShane, Maguire, Figueroa, Aluko, Sagbo, Snodgrass, Ben Arfa, Jakupović

    Why would you drop Jelavic?

Same 11 as West Ham. No Ince. Not even on the bench.

That is exactly the side I would have picked. Players in the right positions, pace and width.

Yet the team is out now and we're unchanged from West Ham....

Quinn on the left over Brady? Hernandez pushed wider to make room for Jela?

    Think we'll get beat today.

Not sure I would have stuck with same team - felt there were quite a few cracks on Monday night that were papered over by 2 new signings scoring. If we are playing 4-4-2 I think Rosenior has to be right back, almost to the extent that if he isn't fit we need to play 3-5-2 because Elmo can go walkabout at right back.
Peter Swan spouting his normal 'there can only be one winner' nonsense on RH. Would have thought its fairly obvious that Newcastle might react positively or negatively to events - not a done deal that they will react negatively.

I unfortunately could not make it due to commitments in Uganda, hopefully City have taken a decent following.

I was more confident before I heard the line up. However, still think we have the quality regardless of formation to get something from this, if not get the win. keep it tight early or sneak a goal and things could quickly turn sour at SJP for Pardew and the Newcastle players mentality.

Commentators on the stream just said.....

"Steve Bruce has put together a very strong squad, man for man they're a stronger side than the home team. "

It's really some achievement isn't it...

Specially considering cushion face has managed to achieve all this in spite of Allam and his insanity.

    Agreed.

Or more to the point, the midfield is leaving the defence exposed. Seeing some promising signs moving forwards though, we look far more incisive, you actually anticipate something decent might happen when we get the ball.

Shaky suggests there's some movement, we're far too static at the moment. We need to start pressing instead of letting them play football.

Newcastle are breaking well/hitting us on the counter.

Always rated Cissokho, he's easily their best player.
