Whatever your views of Wenger, please can we stop pretending that he's some wizard operating under financial constraints. That may be the case during the early few years of the Emirates. What you see in front of us is Wenger with money, an incomplete defence, an amateurish strike force and a bloated self indulgent midfield. Made to look like school kids by a young Dortmund.
Kinda makes sense. The likes of Cole,Lampard and Torres have ****ed off and they would have been on loads of money.
Even the article says Chelsea have spent the most over the last decade, only in the last couple of years have the Manchester clubs overtaken them and the current figures show arsenal below Chelsea. They are guessing that in April when the end of year figures come out we will have overtaken Chelsea. But as far as I can see the figures they use for this include outgoing players for Chelsea but don't take them into account for arsenal. Should the time come where we overtake Chelsea in wage spending and remain that way, it just goes to show that under FFP we are better positioned due to being the bigger, better run club.
"Operating profits are up to £62.1 from £25.2m last year. The club’s total wage bill has risen by almost £11m from £154.5m to £166.4m but remains significantly lower than that of Manchester City and Manchester United (both well in excess of £200m now) and Chelsea." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...nuary-club-announce-record-cash-reserves.html
