    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ns-retired-Franck-Ribery-with-suspension.html

Basically Platini is threatening to suspend now retired Ribery as he cannot decided to retire from international football.

I always thought that if you play football you should play international football until the manager no longer selects you, like Beckham did.

But if you decide to retire and a manager then picks you, should you still play?

don't see why not, you see in other forms of sport players coming out of retirement and carry on again, so why should football be any dif?

should be until you decide to quit, or your country feels they no longer need your services, for anyone else to get involved is wrong, unless it brings the game into disrepute, which this doesn't, then fair enough.

If you retire the manager shouldn't pick you, that's if he has any respect at all for the player.

For Example - Gerrard has now retired, unless he decides to come out of retirement (very unlikely) then Roy won't pick him.

I agree, he clearly doesnt want to play if he's opted for retirement.

The most overrated player ever anyways....

Great way to pour fuel on the club vs country fire there, Platini.
The modern football world is professional association football. The association clubs are businesses that employ footballers, who have careers, and it is the clubs' and footballers' (for better or worse) who have the say on whether they want to represent their country and for how long. Are players legally required to represent their countries?

/ I wish Studge would retire from international football.

No this is a serious law suit waiting to happen. Football is not slavery and yes it's sick to compare ultra rich people to slaves but the central point is there are NO contracts that Robert signed to play for France. If then mr platinum suspends him from playing for bayern in Germany well Robert can sue Uefa and bust it wide open

In short while I gave no time for Ribery after that under age prostitute scandal platonic here knows he's talking totally hollowly

The guy is 30+ it's his call, he's served France, took the rewards yes but that doesn't give France any right to demand anything now

If Ribery leaves a £16k watch in Plantini's office it'll work out well.

If he doesn't want to play he shouldn't have to.

Why would they want him if he didn't want to play?

What's the difference between Ribery and Gerrard, Carra or even Lampard? All of the English players retired from international duty but continued to play club football. I don't see the problem.

He could always protest play. If he's forced to be picked and play he could just stand on the pitch and do **** all, they wont be picking him again after that.
