What sort of tragically inept lunatic of a punter would publicly abuse the one jockey who always goes out to try and win? I hope the ****er lost his house.
I think the key is to minimise the horse's suffering so it needs to be quick, simple and effective (and readily portable). Lethal injection might feel more humane but would be more difficult to administer and take longer to end the horse's suffering.
Chanin old mate, this is a hairy subject, and one argued about for a long time. Is the average horse bred for racing really that well cared for? The overall stats make for pretty grim reading.
I just assumed they anaesthetised the horse so that it was asleep then used the bolt gun through the head. The picture in the paper doesn't look like it'd be very quick or painless
I know Cyc, it just seems that so much other animal welfare stuff gets completely overlooked. For example how about spending a day in kosher/halal abattoir watching animals bleed to death in the name of religion. Why doesn't the Mirror lead with some of the shocking stuff that goes on these places. Or how about the truly dreadful conditions that some horses are kept by the travelling community within the UK.
Because the 'PC' brigade would be in uproar about all of the racism! Load of bollocks all that if you ask me mate you're spot on with what you say
Catterick 430 , I think two are way too big the first being tinsletown and the second being FLYING CAPE I am siding with the latter as Ffrench has taken flying for a spin around here before and coincidently running against todays fav indira . That day flying came in second one length behind indira not enough to warrant a bet I know , but throw in the fact flying was 4lbs heavier that day and goes in 9lbs lighter today makes the 14s on offer look exeedingly good value !
Mount cherion 610 Catterick did manage to get 8s ew still around 7s available and looks to have an exeptional chance in a very tight race
Ayr doesn't look to have a handful of progressive sorts so JACK DEXTERS 33/1 Group1 form puts him right in the shakeup if running up to his best. Could do with more rain but should come rattling home.
Newbury’s card is a complete write off today. The morons watered the track, then it rained and now it is false slow ground. Since they also watered at Newmarket (“Good to Firm (watered), Good places”, I will wait to see the first race before deciding what to do there. The bookies’ benefits that are the Silver and Gold Cups make no appeal at Ayr. Sandwiched between them the Doonside Cup looks a good opportunity for Sennockian Star as favourite Sky Hunter has been gelded and hooded after proving to be another Godolphin failed import from their French operation. In the Ayrshire Handicap (4:25) the improving three year old Top Of The Glas should make best use of the lumps of weight he receives from some out-of-form older horses, with Coincidently, to whom he has to give weight, the one to beat.
Wonder if Amy Ryan will have the balls to ride a silver cup & gold cup double today!! Be amazing for her and racing if she could do it, but just can't see it at all even though both should win
Looks like hard work that Hillstar. Seems as if there's a lot more talent than he really wants to show.
No chance of Bogart winning, Barry Dennis has tipped it in the sun don't think i've ever seen this guy have a winner
