Just an observation from a neutral perspective - if Pardew realises that the protests about him are putting undue pressure on the players -should he not just do the honourable thing and quit? Or is he like most of the other 'crap' managers (Redknapp, Hughes, Pulis, McClaren etc., who all seem to con their ways into clubs and take them nowhere) - just waiting to be sacked and take the big payout. There is no honour in football anymore- he should have been sacked after the Hull head-butting incident. From my point of view, Newcastle deserve better than Pardew and Ashley. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

    A very good point.
If he cared about he club he'd walk.. simple as. I would.
Of course... the complication of a £1.6m pay off muddies things somewhat.... that's where a compromise agreement should come in...

I think we have a game of who blinks first going between Pards and Ashley. Ashley doesn't want to pay him and thinks the fans can do his job for him. Pards thinks he has nothing to lose by sticking it out for money. If we lose Mike has to sack him. If we win he has something to cling onto. I think Pardew is under severe stress looking at him.

That said we could all be wrong and they may laughing over a glass of single malt behind the scenes. **** knows. <laugh>

Maybe the club might make a statement saying 'Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew will be absent from tomorrows game with Hull City due to a mental breakdown. John Carver will take over managerial duties and proceed to embarass himself until further notice.'

    Unlikely but you never know.

We can't expect him to walk, and IMo it's wrong to expect him to. It's Mike's job to sack him. If he has a contract that will cost us money - that's tough. It's like the Jonas situation with him playing one more game. I hate how we're turning into a club that doesn't respect contracts. Some you win some you lose. I don't blame him for not walking, but I do blame Ashley for not pushing him. He needs to go and that is Ashley's job to get rid of him.

It all comes back to one man and his vision for the club. Simple as that.

    Pardew post match interview:

"It was: the lightning striking me on the head..."
"That: made the players dance and cheer..."
"So: they were distracted and lost the game..."
"I blame: the lightning and the mean, nasty Toon fans!"

Who were you all protesting about the other season when you played Hull City? I was down for the week end and spent the Friday afternoon in a pub near the indoor market which was decked out with photographs of old Newcastle players. Every old bloke in the pub knew we were from Hull within minutes of entering the place and all wanted to tell us the sob story about your s**t manager. None of the old faces actually went to the football anymore but all had an opinion.
Hull won that day and Gutherie (?) broke Craig ***an's leg.
Remember the demonstrations before the game were quite spectacular and I was interviewed by a television crew beforehand.
I told them that you don't know you are born. I think the demonstration was about Ashley only investing about £10m on players or something. Hull fans didn't demonstrate when we were six points adrift at the bottom of the old 4th division with nowt in the Bank and even less on the pitch. We supported the club.
You seem to have protesting off to a fine art.
You are becoming experts at it.
    Congratulations.

Actually there was a demonstration as 50% of the crowd participated but when the crowd was only 4 in total nobody realised 2 people standing together was the protest.

Y'know what I find weird - there's jobs @ Cardiff and @ Fulham, where they are really going to struggle recruiting a decent manager. Clubs who'll pay decent money, and where you won't be villified (at least not at first). Instead Alan is going to walk, willingly, into a cauldron of hate this afternoon for a complete lost cause. If some of the opinions on here are to be believed, he's on a hiding to nothing anyway because the players are cr@p. Why on earth would he not have his agent sounding out the two clubs, putting something together and just hopping on the National Express back to London?
