This is for the Irish among us. As well all know there is an annual festival celebrating Irish traditional music that attracts musicians from all over the world. This year it is in Cavan, my question is do you go the the Fleadhs and how do you feel about the rumours that it could cross the border to Derry in 2013.
A guy from Derry, a friend of my Das, who is very involved in Traditional music told me it will cross the border. Joe Mulhern you call him. Expect this thread to be hijacked though.
I'd love to see it in the North. I was at the Tyrone County Fleadh a couple weeks ago and it was great craic.
this It's good to see it spread, after all, there is probably interest in the festival over the border
There is interest from as far afield as Australia which I suppose just goes to show how big it has become
There is no border between Derry and Kyaaaaavan......unless that is what they are calling Fermanagh and Tyrone these days. Happy enough if it comes to Derry, as long as my cousin, who is at it every year doesn't expect free lodgings.
Big attendee of the fleadhs and festivals. Thinking of heading to Milltown this year but will definitely be at the Fleadh. Not gonna lie, have had a fair bit of fleadh success in the past and i do miss not competing any more. Dont mind at all with it going to Derry, but how will such a large crowd for a very Irish festival be greeted by the unionist community. Could be a great stepping stone to greater cultural understanding, though you can count on the knackers that follow it like vultures to ruin anything. Want the Fleadh to head back to Listowel, best town for it.
Like the giants causeway, it is worth seeing but it is not worth going to see. If it is coming to my doorstep in a couple of years, then great. I'll see it then. You can get Trad stuff anywhere, any time and I do like it. i was on the TV last week listening to some.
There hardly is one on the city side. It is a chance to reach out, as it the whole year really, so it'd be a shame to waste it.
Heathen. There is a difference between getting drunk in a pub with a seisun and camping at the fleadh at getting drunk for a week long seisun.
You will always get a few is right but I can't see it being a problem with the wider community because it will bring much needed business to the bars, restaurants, shops, hotels and B&Bs. It can only be good for the local ecomomy.
I was at a couple of Feile's in Cork & Tipp and the Fleadh in Finsbury Park in London and a rake of other festivals....camping is not my bag!
ah c'mon. ruined by being organised so late and the camping being far from the pairc. R.e.M were playing at Slane, so loads of folk chose that instead.
As boyzone were put together I as up in Ballina and beat on the street was on... loads of lads thinking...."what the **** is this??"
