I think Scotland has lost a wasp this morning I am just surprised that Alex has spent all morning chewing it

In practical terms there can not be another vote for 10 to 15 years and by then North Sea oil will be in a steep decline... the economic justification will be far harder next time for the SNP.

 

His pride is smarting for sure, but he will soon be back home at Bute House, enjoying a single malt beside the fireplace.

There probably was a glimmer of hope in his heart, yet his true intention was to squeeze the gutless MPs and he has done just that.

If I were a Jock, I would be pleased with the increased powers. Perhaps a little disappointed, but also contented to wallow in the well placed safety net.

 

In my view, he is secretly delighted at losing. He knew it was unworkable and did not have the skill to front it any way.

Besides if Scotland was independent what title would he get

An empire = so he would be an emperor

Not really a surprise. Consider the huge Celtic supporting population of Glasgow - packed with English hating pro Irish sympathisers. Remember when they passed around the IRA collection tins at Parkhead ?

I spoke to a couple of Labour MPs earlier this week who had been on the "Labour Express" sent to canvass up there. They both said that the biggest block of voters they had encountered on the doorstep were "shy Nos"...."hundreds of them" to quote one. Suggests that either quiet patriotic pride or fear of the Yes campaign was a factor....

Look at the result this way - Scotland's two civilised, wealth creating cities (Aberdeen & Edinburgh) both voted against independence by huge margins.

Scotland's two other cities - both sectarian, downtrodden sh!tholes - Glasgow & Dundee - voted for grievance & dare I say it...bile n'vitriol

Another thing to take out of the referendum is the unelectability of Ed Miliband. Even in his party's own back yard of Scotland, voters looked at him as if he were an extra from the Stars War film. In England he is already as popular as thrush at a swingers party.
