As I've said before I would be 100% voting 'YES' if I were a Scot.

I'm a Socialist but that's almost irrelvant; as, to me, are all of 'the facts' around almost everything.

F** 'the facts', I would just want representation - and that's more likely within an independent Scotland!

I'm with Nye Bevan in believing: 'No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin...'

Everything that is wrong with the UK can be traced back to Thatcherism; even the ineffectiveness of New Labour was a result of her.

As I may have also said before, if I were from anywhere other than London and the South East - where the traditional working classes such as myself and my family and I would suspect many on here have had a relatively easy recession all things considered - then I would be desperate to get away from City rule and Parliament.

Whatever happens results wise today I'm sure there will be social repercussions; the Scots have agitated once again and with a General Election around the corner the corner the Establishment should be ****ting themselves. Luckily for them all mainstream parties are identical, there is no socialist solution because most left-wingers prefer fighting with each other than successfully using democracy, and most disenchanted Brits are naturally right wing (hence the UKIP fetish).

Sorry Kish, but you can't blame Mrs T. for what Blair and Milord Mandy did. They won 3 elections.

They won 3 elections simply because they were a change in face and name. The agenda was the same (minimum wage aside). They abandoned Clause VI and sold their souls to the middle classes (which we all are now sickeningly).

Anyway if it's a Yes then I hope Glove Pup still plays The Skids at home games.

The problem with making statements like that is Kish that my mum and dad voted Tory (because although they were working class they were brought up Conservative) so you are describing them as vermin although you never knew them...

Kish was quoting Nye Bevan, AllHell. Whether Kish believes in Bevan's credo is another matter.

PEA, Kish states "I'm with Nye Bevan in believing........."

My mum was an animal lover and gave regularly to animal charities, my dad (after he retired) used to drive an 'Age Concern' minivan for about 15 years on a voluntary basis so local aged could go on day trips or social clubs.

Fair dues. I find it hard to believe Kish would think of all Tories as vermin, though. It is a sweeping generalisation, and I don't mind admitting I am the master of sweeping generalisations.

Your parents sound like fine people, AllHell, and you have every right to be defensive. :emoticon-0148-yes:

If you have to blame anyone, blame the deep-fried mars-bars which caused John Smith to have a second heart attack. Otherwise there would have been no "New Labour", and no Milor' Mandy, and no B. Liar as PM. As a Tory MP said, there is no doubt he would have been a very great Prime Minister. New Labour's trouble was, as soon as they won one election, the only thing they were worried about was winning the next one. Now we have war criminal Tone swanning round the middle east keeping the peace:grin:, and Mandy swanning round Europe:headbang: We also have a born-again Gordon Brown as the voice of common sense alongside Son-of Thatcher!

    Thanks PEA and Sorry AHLL

I do agree wholeheartedly with Bevan's statement but I believe he was referring to the Tory Establishment and the Grandee's; not necessarily the voters

I couldn't see anything else, although there has been a very good political debate. Hopefully this will stimulate political debate in England too, maybe before the in/out referendum on Europe rather than the soundbite exercise called a general election.

Just a small correction, FHB. It is a matter of fact that John Smith was a very heavy drinker, a borderline alcoholic in fact. He would never have lasted the course as a PM.

    Surprised Glasgow voted yes.

Fortunately I don't see the SNP go for independence for a long time, though it does leave a lot of questions open. It will be interesting to see if Cameron makes good on all the promises made.

He really has no other option, even Inglish voters will see the promises that were made and if he pulls back from them he will be hammered at the next general election. However, any re-distribution of power must apply equally to Scotland, Wales, Norn Ireland and the Ingerland regions.

It was a win-win situation for the Jocks, but this result will give Scotland even more power and influence.

Our MPs will claim a victory, yet it will come at a high price and it has shown what gutless pricks they truly are.

Salmond has won, methinks. I don't think he ever really saw independence coming, and now he can sit back and enjoy the perks and bribes coming his way.
