The thing is, a Yes vote is not a vote for the SNP or Alex Salmond. It's perfectly consistent to revile them yet vote Yes (as many people I know are doing). The media coverage has been unbelievably one-sided; I've not experienced any instances of xenophobia towards English people or intimidation by so-called nationalist thugs.

In fact, the whole thing has been remarkably peaceful, respectful and dignified by both sides. Democracy is alive and well up here - just heard that one of the polling stations in Falkirk has closed. Why? Because there's been a 100% turn out. That is amazing.

Anyway, Betfair odds now suggesting a yes vote is only a 10% or so chance, so looks like still more power to the Scottish parliament yet Scotland still gets representatives into Westminster who can affect English policy on education, etc, etc depite English MPs having no effect on the same matters.

This will end in tears as many English people are gradually awakening to how grossly unfair this all is on England.

Well done to everyone involved. We now have the worst of both worlds.

    Vin

I think there needs to be at least a gentleman's agreement for Scotch/Welsh/Irish MP's not to vote on purely English matters.

    That or an English Parliament.

Another matter to consider is that Scotland will become a defensiveless mass of land. They need funds for an army themselves, which they won't have. They then can't help with the ongoing battle in the middle east, which is far more important than this anyway and we can't land or take off harrier jets from bases in Scotland.

Where in China have you applied for?
I am currently undergoing the annual visa renewal process, it differs in each province. Mine has so far taken nearly 2 months. Very frustrating process tackling the tedious bureaucracy.

Apparently not. 20 years is his timescale, if the Scots vote NO. I hear that if the vote is YES there will never be another referendum for them to vote to return. Seems a bit lopsided.

Was watching the Channel 4 Despatches documentary on match fixing earlier [if you can't find it at CH4 then go to Fooballorgin] and one of the agents, who fixes matches on a regular basis has entire control on the Ghana National team. Which means, I would imagine, that he has entire control of Ghana's FA. And guess where Sadio Mane got his work permit signed and sealed..?

    It just crossed my mind.

Nah, I'm keeping my eye on it too. You may have stopped by now.

Incidentally, I think tennis player Andy Murray has been a bit rash declaring his support for independence. That's not going to win friends and influence people.

Ruddy love Falkirk, was up there in the mid 1980s, visited Brockville which scared the pants off me. People were great, the dark beer was nice.

Am very pleased that Scotland has voted no...I would be very sad to have the union broken up. Especially pleased that the country isn't a patchwork of yes and no, but virtually a total no. Time probably for more devolution, including for England. We must stop English issues being voted on by people who represent other regions. I am pleased that our shared history continues...in a divorce you lose your past as well as your future.
