I was just too lazy to make a thread, probably better it has its own thread. :)

But as I said before, I'm really pleased with this. Tettey is easily Premier League standard and to have him play at this level is great for us.

Really good news. Apparently he's well liked in the changing room as well as being a quality CM.

I hope he can stay injury free this season. As in each of the last two seasons he picked up fairly serious injuries and then never really recovered to the same level.

That said, if he were to pick up an injury our squad is so ridiculously strong that our starting 11 wouldn't really be weakened all that much, if at all. Helluva position for a Championship team to be in.

I know, we'd just have to 'make do' with someone like Johnny Howson, Gary O'Neil or our new Belgian international slotting in - tough eh?

The best thing about this is he was one of the players we thought we may lose because of our relegation, not only has he stayed, he's extended his stay! Brilliant!

Certainly one of Hughtons better signings

Great news, I was already getting worried he'd have a brilliant season and instantly be snapped up by somebody else in the summer.

I think Hughtons transfer record was, in the grand scheme of things, superb:
    Olsson
    Turner
    Tettey
    Fer
    Snodgrass
    Hooper
    Redmond

Have all been very good signings, imo

Add to that Whittaker, Garrido, Yobo, Bunn and Kamara, who have all served a certain purpose and have been "successful" signings. Bassong is now in the balance, but I'd argue he was a brilliant signing with subsequent problems.

A couple of his loan signings weren't great, but that's normal. The only real absolute shockers were, unfortunately, the most prominent - Becchio and RvW. (Butterfield was also a shocker too).

Compare that to just about any of the top managers and I think you'll find that's a very good hit rate (I'm looking at the likes of Shevchenko, Soldado and the like).

Hughton transformed our squad throughout very successfully. He just wasn't successful, ultimately, where it mattered.

You've opened a can of worms there, but I think you're probably right. Only problem was he couldn't get anywhere near the best out of them. That's all I'll say.

Hughton saw the potential but didn't know how to use it.

Really glad Tettey has signed a new deal. I think he's going to be massive for this club, especially this season and he seems to really love life in Norwich so it's good news all round!

On the reports of his play this season he is turning out to be an extremely important member of the team. So happy he has extended, just stay injury free for the rest of the season now Alex.

The question is what was Hughton involved with when it came to transfers? Was it his show, or was it McNally and Chester?
I've often thought Hughton would have been a far better director of Football than Foitball manager. He seemed very good at the mechanics of building a successful team but just didn't have a good tactics mind.

Tettey is our highest rated player in the WhoScored rankings at 7.57, with a pass success rate of 91.5% and two goals and one assist! IMO, both he and Johnson have benefited from the coaching of Holt and Robson, which may be another reason for his staying.

Totally agree Zogean and I made the same comment last season when he was being pilloried by most on this board. I think that in the end it was his cautious gameplan that did for him whereas of course he followed the more cavalier PL and has been succeeded by NA in a not dis-similar vein. Although you cannot fault CH's signings, one could say the same for NA to be fair, the squad now and more importantly the spirit is testament to his management qualities, something that was questioned pre-season.
