This was the last info we had on Turley if you need reminding http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/272264-Latest-on-Culley-Trotman-amp-Turley Here is the latest via James Mcnamara on twitter: "Rovers closing in on Turley signing. Has x-ray later today and if given all-clear a deal would be imminent." "One or two other clubs have shown an interest, but DC says Turley wants to play for Bristol Rovers." "Ex-Forest Green central defender, England 'C' player of the year. Haven't seem him play, but DC seems to rate him highly."
Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has confirmed a deal to sign England ‘C’ international Jamie Turley is ‘close’. Turley, who decided against staying at Forest Green Rovers when his contract expired at the end of last season, has been training at Rovers’ Cribbs Causeway training base since the start of August as he continues to recover from a broken arm suffered earlier in the summer. He is scheduled to see a specialist on this afternoon and would almost certainly agree a deal with the club some time this week if he is given the all-clear to return to full-contact training. Clarke said: “Turls is very close. We are waiting for him to get the all-clear to return to full contact football. He has an x-ray scheduled for Monday afternoon and we will see if he gets the all-clear to return to full-contact training. There are other clubs interested in him, but he wants to play for Bristol Rovers and I want him here because he would be a good addition for us. I haven’t got a massive squad when you consider that we have a couple of players on loan and another couple on non-contract terms so bringing in Jamie Turley would give us good competition for places.” http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...losing-Jamie/story-22927335-detail/story.html
last night james mcnamara asked DC and no further news yet: https://twitter.com/JPMcnamara7/status/512005495318937601
Conference side Eastleigh have signed defender Jamie Turley and have also announced Matt Fry has left the club. Turley, 24, began his career at Wycombe but failed to make a senior appearance before spells in non-league with Salisbury City and Forest Green Rovers. He had been training with Bristol Rovers since August and looked set to sign for Eastleigh's Conference rivals. The defender also captained England C to the final of the International Challenge Trophy in 2013. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29257837
I was always confused by us wanting to sign Turley for two reasons: 1, I've seen him play and he's no better than what we've got, and 2, We've already got 4-5 players who can play at CB. So ta ra chuck, follow the money and good luck to you.
Reckon we should invoice him for our time and effort in getting him fit. Tosser! Thought we would of learnt. Very similar to the Clive Platt fiasco!
Which is exactly the player we don't want. Nothing lost IMO and as BB said we already have good cover at CB. Only difference is, me being a **** don't wish him good luck, I hope it all goes spectacularly tits up for both him and Eastleigh.
Some tweets... Alistair Durden: "Jamie Turley signs for Eastleigh, despite a deal with Bristol Rovers being "very close" on Monday. Been training with Rovers since August." James Mcnamara: "Club have confirmed that decision to sign for Eastleigh was Turley's" "Rovers were concerned about results of initial X-ray and were going to send him somewhere else for second opinion tomorrow" "Rovers covered a few medical costs regards Turley but I hear not an extortionate amount. Few 100 quid for couple of scans and xray maybe" "Understand both sides. Rovers can't afford to take gamble, Turley can't afford to sit around without pay. That's that. Just move on isn't it"
What DC has to say about this... “We gave Jamie an opportunity to train with us to rebuild his fitness, with a view to him signing a contract with us. The offer of a contract was subject to a satisfactory medical examination. However our medical team were concerned about the nature of the injury to his arm and we were awaiting further tests before completing the signing. We won't take a chance on a player; they need to pass a very thorough medical before signing for us. Jamie has exercised his right to join another club which is very disappointing." http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/darrell-on-turley-1927023.aspx
Good thing about this though is that DC & Higgs would have kept money behind for Turleys wages. Now he aint coming, I guess they got spare money to get in a free transfer or a loan in a position that is needed.
That's a very good point. We've now got the flexibility to sign someone we actually need and that wants to be here.
