Dev, I did not post that wanting independence is gutless or ignorant, I posted that the Labour Party is gutless and ignorant. It didn't want to offend Scotland so it gave devolution with no thought at all about what affect it would have on England. England is the doormat in all this. No other party but Labour with Scots at the helm could have conceived it, I stand by what I posted.
Should the Scots vote for independence, how long before the SNP split, withSalmond on the centre left and Sturgeon on the quite remarkably far right? I'm betting by next Friday.
croydon, somebody will just have to explain to me the construction of the SNP. I wasn't aware of the great divide.
There's been several splits within the SNP over the years (in 1942, 1955, 1978, 1979, 1987, and 2004) because the SNP is made up of groups from one side of the political spectrum to the other but they co-exist because of their one-issue platform of Scottish independence - with independence, the SNP will have to perform a juggling act to try and keep the various wings of their party happy, and there's been signs of this already with the arguments about which members should be put up for EU elections.
Could be worse at least he's not Nick "Spam stretched across a toad's face" Griffin (that's his official birth name i believe)
"Salmond would never walk away from the debt even if a currency union can't be agreed." He can attempt to do what he wants. But if they attempted to, and need to borrow from the markets, they cannot say they weren't told by Moodys et al well in advance what their credit rating will be.
Today marks the biggest threat to Scottish long term prosperity in over 300 years... bless them, may they have the wisdom not to chase silly naïve fantasies! Best of luck Scotland in whatever you choose!
Spurf wasn't wrong in saying people have been singing and dancing, I had to encounter these naive morons today in the high st, singing in their annoying voices with looks on their face as if they had shat themselves but trying to act as if nothing was wrong. Then the annoying yes Vans, all blue, plastered with YES. who usually enter the wrong lane of multi lane roundabouts. These people are the type that are going to be in your face if a yes vote happens, but this vote isn't about that, as whatever happens all of us who live in Scotland will be impacted by negative and positive change (whichever way the vote goes) and thats the only part I agree with Salmond on, that when this is over, all is forgotten in the contest and all focus is on the country we live in, not which side people voted.
I assume that this is the sort of "campaigner" that Boss is referring to!... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...imidation-during-referendum-vote-9741015.html
Spurm is correct, not being done because of the logistics involved. Also they wouldn't be available till the polls are closed at 10 - it's illegal to publish them before.
So in actual fact, they are building another Hadrian's Wall.To keep the Scots in and the rest of us out.Now isn't that ironic. Wonder what Hadrian would have made of it.......?
I don't know about Spurf, but as I put this morning, I fear that this issue has caused some wounds in relationships that will never heal.
