Swords, By and large people appreciate it's one for the Scots to decide. My concern from an English perspective in the case of a Yes vote is that where Scotland gets independence and all the joy of being a new nation, and don't mind paying for that privilage - people in England and Wales aren't getting anything particualrly positive out of it (a dragon instead of a unicorn on the passport?, ability to name a new motorway the M8?). Two separate NHSs, two Navies, two Armies, two Central Banks, two BBCs, etc - it's going to cost money to set all those up, and that's when there might be a bunfight. People having to pay for something that they didn't ask for or had a say in - even if they are happy for the scots to go it alone.

To a lesser extent a No vote they'll be questions about funding, but I'd like to see that develop into more regional devolution discussions anyway.

Either way its good the see the levels of political engagement in scotland, which the rest of us never get near to being that involved.

I've swung about wildly on this, from yes to no to back yes again. My only concern with a yes vote now would be working out the motivation for Cameron et al stumping up these bribes. I'm hoping its for them to save face rather than fearing some horrible consequences of independence, as yet unknown to the rest of us.

The additional 'subsidy' per head in Scotland is just about covered by the revenue they would get from oil (until it runs out, and its a very unstable source of revenue, price and volume very volatile). So the revenue the UK has been getting from oil tax,has largely/ proportionately been allocated back to Scotland, looks cost neutral (on this score at least) to me.

Will a YES vote reinstate Tim Henman as GB's best modern day tennis player? Fingers crossed Tim.

    Make your mind up G
    Shall I ? Shall I not?
Buy that sports car and drive down here for lunch

    He who hesitates is lost

Nick Robinson I would live to see mobbed then hung drawn and quartered

    Let the folks decide
The UK needs a wake up call like this but I bet it will covered up as a narrow No when its a big Yes win

I am all ready thinking cover up

I rest my case when I heard a few people saying but they only have whiskey and short bread to sell

Sorry if this has already been done but what happens to Balmoral Castle in the outcome of a yes vote?

Personally I would prefer Scotland to remain part of the union but if it's a yes vote then fair play and good luck to them I say.

I would assume it would still be the property of the Queen, as she owns it. The YES campaign have already stated that they don't intend to replace the Queen as head of state, and plan to be part of the Commonwealth - isn't she still head of state for Aus/NZ/Canada etc?

What about Tunnock's Tea Cakes? They better not put export bans on them - if they do we'll have to embargo the Buckfast

Cheers for clearing that one up for me. I remember that Australia had a vote on the queen remaining head of state not so many years back.

Mate, that's my main concern about this whichever way the vote goes. Yes or No it's going to be very close if the opinion poles are anything to go by, right down to the wire maybe?

I have a strong gut feeling the Yes vote will edge it helped on my the awful management of the No campaign and call me "Dave" Cameron.

The Caramel Wafers are well nice too. I welcome our new caledonian overlords. Well not really as they haven't a snowball's chance in hell of winning the referendum.

    What a drama
The decision IMO was made years ago
Yes wins the vote but No just gets through
The masters of the inner light ruled on this in 2007
The rest is just market research

Lets see if Westminster can stand by their "Vow" - here's hoping that it works out the best for everyone in UK.

Bit sad today that the opportunity was spurned, but now have to knuckle down and get back to normal life.

I hope the politicians prove to be as dishonest as usual, as otherwise, the English will get the ****ty end of the stick after all these "vows".
