So you would sell 300m worth of assets and an annual income stream of 150m for 350m? If you're ever selling anything in real life, let me know!
Admittedly I'm one of the last people who can judge a club's worth as I don't know enough about the figures in terms of asset worth/ turnover etc. Though just looking at it from a general analysis, I'd value us around £650m-£750m. I think the Glazers bought Utd for a similar price roughly 10 years ago and so with inflation and the general rise in everything football, I'd say we're roughly at that sort of price now. 10 years ago I'd have said around £300m tops.
"So you would sell 300m worth of assets and an annual income stream of 150m for 350m? If you're ever selling anything in real life, let me know!" 350m is the value below which I would immediately put a bid offer in the bin (sorry - file) marked "joke/moron" .
Football clubs are very hard to value, unlike a regular business. As was said about the investment banking business, "Our main assets go up and down in the elevator every day" But, if Uncle Joe is supposedly looking for £1bln, you can bet that's top dollar.
I think the mythical 500m figure is more likely. Which would be very good business by ENIC considering THFC is not yet lumbered with the debt burden of the new WHL construction.
The glittering array of golden stars ought to look impressive, though. Also, when the Yanks replace our cockerel for the more impressive eagle, most of us will probably be glowing with pride.
Soccer Chickens (TM - usasoccerguy) . And on that front : https://twitter.com/joejtyler/status/511957154153377792/photo/1
And I was afraid one or two of you might not welcome 'mericanization with open arms. As good as the eagle is, Soccer Chickens really has a ring to it. Maybe we can get Colonel Sanders Fried Chicken as a sponsor. The two things that matter are what figure ENIC will sell the club for, and what figure, if any, Cain Hoy offers.
Of course, I was only joking about the superpop red white and blue kits. The club has known the takeover was coming for some time, and has prepared the way for the new look with the black and gold away kit. please log in to view this image We can also look forward to a beefier type of athlete.
I'm going to guess the sale will go through. Though the only fact is that Cain Hoy have until October 10th to make a bid, from what little I can gather they seem like the sort of people who wouldn't spend time on something they didn't think they could pull off. Add to that the fact that ENIC surely have their price, and the chances of it occurring are pretty good. Given what seems a well heeled takeover attempt, Levy's history, and the fact that the Clippers supposedly were going for 2 billion dollars, the 1 billion figure doesn't seem unreasonable.
No smoke without fire. I'm sure Cain Hoy are doing their due diligence right now to assess the true value of the club and will make a firm bid once they know the financial status of the club. We'll see but it could be an interesting few months ahead... interesting as in disruptive! Does anyone think that perhaps all the goings on behind the scenes are causing our recent poor performances? It's no coincidence that since this story came out, we've gone pretty downhill.
