Any of you Whiskey lovers who also love a good steak, if you're ever in Chester I highly recommend a restaurant called Upstairs At The Grill. There's a host of whiskies there, I'm not a big drinker of any sort but last time I went they served me some single malt in a hip flask, and gave me a glass filled with granite cubes that had been chilled. I really did appreciate the drink for what it was, although I couldn't tell you what it was! I usually don't like spirits of any sort but this stuff was really good. The beef they serve there is absolutely outstanding as well, better than any steak I've had in Manchester by a mile.
There's a menu online, but they specialise in loads of different steaks all locally sourced. They fetch the different steaks out on this huge wooden board and you pick which steak type you want, then they fetch you out the one they're gonna cook for you to show you before it gets cooked. My Mrs had a fillet steak served on the bone, it was probably the best steak I'd ever tasted, I had a proper mans steak it was HUGE, bone-in Rib-eye steak, I'm starving now man.
A fillet steak served on the bone? Rib eye, now we are ****ing talking man.....did it have mushrooms and onions as well? bastards, i;m slavering.
Haha yeah, I'd never heard of it either. Rib Eye cooked with the bone in man, they gave me a few sauces to have with it, the peppercorn one was my favourite. By this time I had a pint as well, rather than that Whisky so it was just all going in nicely... **** sake, I'm having salmon with veg and a jacket spud for me dinner tonight.
Probably I don't speak French (I'd imagine it's a french word), although by their own admission they accept it's unusual... their menu says this... "Fillet on the Bone - we have yet to find another restaurant that serves this cut. The combination of tender fillet with the extra flavour of being cooked on the bone. Minimum meat content 8oz £29.95"
Odd, sounds ****ing delightful though, so if I'm ever in Chester... Just Googled it, apparently they actually 'tie bone into it', I'm gonna try this madness.
It sounds strange yet also appealing,,,i want some... Mind, i do prefer a rib eye or sirloin, something with a bit of fat....but i'd still like to try this.
Always a rib-eye for me mate, delicious. Although I can eat any steak gladly. Or pork. Or any ****ing meat, or seafood, frankly.
