    Give what a rest?

Did you not read my post fully? I said I don't care about the "plastic" part of things anymore. Nor do I care that I missed out on a ST because I'm over it, there's nothing I can do about it (Unless my application of intrest is successful).

I posted regarding my OPINION on the thread. I do that, and I get told to give it a rest. Pffft.

As I stated, if we go down at the end of the campaign, will there still be that many ST holders? The simple answer is no. What if we then go into decline and fall out of the championship? Where will they be then? Where will they be when the Swans are desperate for support and money? Down the pub, supporting the teams they have splashed out on this season to watch.

I'm not against new fans at all. Nor am I against the Swans making the most money that they can. But, what I am against are people "supporting" my team in order to watch a big side. Taking a Swans fan chance of watching it live in the process. Of course this doesn't go for the full 16,000 that have now bought ST's. But I reckon there would be approximately one or two thousand there that havn't EVER been to a Swans match. I'm willing to make a bet on it. So, if the worst happens and we get relegated, they'll jump ship, guaranteed.

10K ST holders last year, average gate of 16K. 40K turned up at Wembley.

WOuld there be 40K if it was the League one play off final?

Of course not, there's not the potential prize of being able to watch Man Utd etc the following year.

People had their chances to get tickets, 2k match tickets will be on general sale, really can't see why people are moaning about the club being successful, that is the thing about success it breeds success, I got my ticket as soon as they went on sale, could see us at least in the play offs back then, so a very good chance at going up.

    Jager, that arguments finished mate.

If anyone is still arguing about that, they need to realise that moaning won't do anything.

The argument now is stated in my last post.

Bullshit. The majority of the new ST holders will be those who went to 10 or so games a season previously (we have a LOT of those) or are family/friends of those who already have STs.

And frankly I'd be shocked if there are more than 500 of last years ST holders who genuinely missed out.

If you're not against new fans, fine. I can't be arsed debating this anymore, but a lot of people seem to think the majority of people who queued for season tickets are these "glory hunters" or "plastics" or whatever name will be given. I don't, and I think that is also the consensus view... with the majority of people feeling bitter about it doing so purely because they've missed out on season tickets. I feel for you, really, I'll be lucky to catch a couple of away games next year and probably won't make any home games at all, but why be negative about this at all? The more fans the better! So what if half of the new ST's walk away? We've still retained the other half, and they'll all have contributed to the financial security of the club for a long time to come.

Most of these arguments are pointless and stupid. Of course teams in the premier League have more support than teams in League Two. When teams get promoted, their support goes up and when they get relegated it goes down. There are lots of reason. Some people may support SCFC but have no interest in watching SCFC v Shrewsbury on a cold, wet winter's night. But they are interested in watching SCFC v Man U. There is nothing at all wrong with that.

Some fans are more dedicated than others. This isn't some robot world. Most people have interests other than football and they may prefer to do other things with their time.

Why do so may on here think it's all or nothing? It seems to be you have to have a season ticket and go to every away match or you're no allowed to be a supporter at all.

I think some on here would have preferred if only 5,000 went to Wembley. So what if even non-football fans get carried away with the excitement?

If if SCFC get relegated, a few new fans are bound to develop and interest and still buy STs in future years. It's so obvious that they all won't that it doesn't need saying.

Do you think Chelsea or Man U would have the same amount of support in League Two? Of course not.

Stop stating the obvious and move on.

plastic or organic, does it really matter? if they have shelled out the required squids, then thank you kerching. the money is in the club, more for the year ahead lets face it we could be needing every squid come january time (though i hope not). the best thing to do with this debate is let it die a natural death.

I do think that building up support can take years yet once some are hooked then like me it's for life. I am delighted that we took so many youngsters in particular to Wembley and that for some of those it will have been to their first live game. If we can gain the continuing support of the majority of those 40,000 then we will have a rosy future.

If you think back to the late eighties and most of the nineties our attendances were just a few thousand and we lost at least a couple of generations of potential fans who will have instead given their alliegance to Liverpool or Man U's successful teams. Some still support them now and on my travels with the Swans have often seen coach loads of these "exiles" travelling from South Wales to the North to support their adopted heroes. My aim would be to gain these fans back or at least their sons or daughters so that in future our fanbase will be much bigger. Remaining in the prem will be key of course but even if we were to return to the championship at some point we'll have gained a higher percentage of die hards.

Agree there Liberty, and when you think that we averaged 15,000 these last few seasons, then Wembley shows us that we have another 25,000 potential fans, though I hardly think we will get to that number again, anytime soon, though it's my view that should we go back down to the championship next season, at least we should see the Liberty pretty much full, and that is reassuring progress in it's self!..............

    Exactly.

In fact I wonder how many of the moaning minnies are actually plastic fans who only joined after we got promoted to League One/moved to the Liberty. (I jest of course)
