what does suso and lambert have to do to get more game time? i watched a bit of lfctv last night and they showed our games in pre season and suso was ruddy good and scored a couple of nice goals too, yet he hasn't been given opportunities yet.
Look there are a lot of good points here indicating peopel se a lot of issues. that is better than everything is rosey attitude. 1. foward movement. I agree. ast year one or both of SAS were looking to get in behind CBs constantly. it made teams drop off and it panicked defenders. Badontelly wants to come deep all the time, he wants to go wide left or he wants to stand still. this is indeed making ti quite easy for opposition. we miss sturridge... purely for getting in behind 2. midfield is an issue.. it just is. Gerrard can't run. and frnakly either coutinho or lallana in there beside henderosn is useless too. Sure allen "improves" it but that doesn't mean he is a saviour as we are still weaker than the top 4 with our best three in. 3. defence; a lot of errors from lovern but he is agressive. I think he needs a few digs but... too many sloppy letting of lads go from set piece and such but i like how he comes to an attacker not backing off and he is decent. He needs in my view a sweeper beside him AND he needs gerrard to not just stand facing his own goal but to step in behind him as he's not once been able to stride forward. the sweeper IMO should be skertl not sahko. Sorry but sahko is a bit of a panicker and is one to close down rapid. they might imporve over time but right now if we give them time we'll concede so many we'll be out of top 4 hunt 4. keeper. I lose count of the times i shout keeper FFS at the guy. he is rooted to the line and rarely reacts, rarely uses speed to ge tthing going again and can't kick for toffee... he also NEVER sweeps up so we play too deep when a decent side plays us. All in all LFC have lots of room for improvement and lots fo players but none replace the impetus suarez gave... never mind skills etc... we are trying too hard to fit too many in and we lack cohesiveness. I would offer that manquillo looks at least decent, I think flanagan is no worse par se than him franly but those two are better than jonhsons inability to run and moreno looks raw but very talented so all in all at least full backs are improved over last year...
True. He needs to be taken out the limelight for now. He needs to go back to basics and regain his confidence too. Doesn't help that he's learning a new roles too mind.
The role Joe Allen plays is underated not Allen. Allen is misunderstood. Allen is a tempo setter. A get the ball, pick out a pass, run in to space player. He keeps our ball playing moving and interchanging fast. A player who hassles opponents in possession stopping them from having to much time on the ball. Rushing them, making them nervous, forcing mistakes, stopping them from slowing the game down. Its not a pretty role like Sterling's or a warrior role like Henderson's. But it gives others freedom and helps us play at a much higher tempo and control the game. I think the team team finally reaching a level tactically where he fits in and he is starting to shine.
Well said. He will never get the plaudits because of the nature of his role. It's not as 'visible' as others for example - he won't put in crunching tackles or spray the ball 60 yards. His pressing and defensive contribution was actually better than Henderson's last season on a per minute basis. Going to Coutinho - definitely looks like he's trying too hard (I hate that phrase as well). He should not be playing in a wide position or as the number 10. His best position is playing in the midfield 3 alongside Hendo. He gets the ball from deep where he has more time and space to pick the pass. But he is suffering from a lack of movement from the strikers. But I'm sure we'll get it right - the diamond is how we should be set up!
Coutinho has been poor all season and is always trying to play a fantastic game changing pass or flick when the better option is something more mundane. As for Sakho I think he has been good recently, but he does look very slow and clumsy when he has the ball. It could just be his stance that gives that impression, but he always seems bewildered that the ball is at his feet. I have also noticed that when he runs forward with the ball he often stops and runs back a bit as if he is afraid he has lost control of it and that is when he has no opposition players anywhere near him.
Agree with this wholeheartedly. The tactical uncertainty is denting an already frail and nascent chemistry between players. --------Gerrard/Can/Lucas----- ---Hendo------Cout/Allen------ -Studge---Balo--Sterling/Lalla or with Sterling shifting inside in a 4-d-2: -------Gerrard/Can/Lucas----- -Hendo---------Cout/Allen----- -------Sterling/Lallana--------- --Studge/Borini-----Balo----- I wouldn't object to Cout and Sterling shifting places in the above diamond either.
At the moment I'd play Allen over Coutinho, who's going through a bit of a bad patch of form. Unfortunately, with Allen injured we'd have to use Lallana, instead, who is just starting to get match fit so he's also not quite firing, either. I'm not sure if Markovic could fill the Coutinho's role, but it'd be worth a go until Allen's back. P.S. I do think Lallana will come good with matches. Sensible Saints fans have said as much.
i would pick Suso over both of them i would like to see him given a run of games to see how he gets on to be honest.
I agree about the formation btw. We played a 442 diamond, play it! Pick the players to suit. With the transfer windows Brod as had, they should all be able to play our system, otherwise why buy them?
You all do realise Allen started almost every game in that 11 consecutive winning streak last season?
to be fair to sterling more than not he tries to win the ball back. Possibly some petulence creeping in though
Suarez is definitely missed and i cant see anyone with his goal scoring capabilities in the Liverpool squad tbh...
