The 1954-55 season on Third (South) had an unbeaten 13 match run at the start.
Two away draws followed by a home win, 5-0 v Orient, then a home draw.

Then a run of NINE WINS before an away defeat at Southend. Another away defeat in November and the first home defeat on 18 December meant we reached the end of 1954 with 16 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats.

1955 started disastrously with three consecutive defeats, away at Orient and Southampton with a home defeat to Norwich.

But promotion was gained as Champions with a record 70 points as we won 14 and drew 4. This included another run of EIGHT consecutive wins.

We scored 101 goals, conceding 47. Atyeo got 28, Jimmy Rogers 25, Arnold Rodgers 13 and Jack Boxley 11. Jack is still around living in Long Ashton.

I know AD's boys got us to the promised land in 1976, but the team of 54-55 managed by Pat Beasley is, in my opinion, the best team we have ever had since the war and probably since the First Division days of the early 1900's!

And with only 2 points for a win back then, 70 points is very impressive

Assuming you mean this season, it's all that matters now. Past history is exactly that and has no bearing on this season, so let's all hope that however the season pans out, the end result will be promotion, whether as champions, second or via playoffs.

A couple of weeks ago I made the mistake of telling my mates that I was not going to shave until we lost - I was slightly merry, but unfortunately they remembered. People at work know about it as well.

My wife reckoned that I'm going to end up looking like Moeen Ali - however she does not realise that our club has a propensity to self-destruct when things seem to be going well.

Anyway - they heard about the Mooen Ali statement, and have put "Mo" up as my nickname for skittles. They are talking about doing beard watch as to how long it gets.

Well at least I have 10 non-City supporters rooting for our run to continue!!

If we stay unbeaten a while longer, you could double as Father Christmas....<cracker>

Not that it feels very Christmassy or even Autumnal at 24 degrees or whatever it is today.
