Why the f** is this doomsday scenario always professed by bellends? Why does changing the name to Hull Tigers automatically cement our safety in the Premier League, and keeping the name Hull City cements our successive relegations to the Conference? It's a stupid prophecy believed by morons. We could get relegated to the Conference as Hull Tigers (and be a laughing stock), and we could very well become an established Premier League club as Hull City (and keep our heritage and dignity). I supported Allam despite the name change at first, but his constant lies and epic media fails have made me believe he's a silly, senile old c**t. I hope he f**s off and takes his money with him, and we might get an owner who can string a sentence together without looking like a complete t**t. f**ing "Red Bottom". And people like you still thinks the sun shines out of his arse.
Oh, and we still haven't heard a proper reason why "Hull Tigers" will be more successful than "Hull City". We're waiting.
It isn't a minor name change. That makes it sound like some inconsequential act which people will hardly notice. It is a name change which alters the name the team has had since its formation to one which makes us sound like some American team playing one of their silly sports.
Yes we've had a year of this crap PLT but, although you make the same point in virtually every post you make on here, there have been several arguments put forward on this forum supporting the name change. I'll just take a minute to repeat two which I, and others, have made several times on here which you apparently choose to ignore. FIRSTLY having spent the last forty years, prior to my retirement a few years ago, meeting with and getting to know on a personal level, business clients in Asia, and spending a great deal of time in countries in that region, notably Japan, China, and India, I know first hand the significance of the Tiger image and reputation in those countries. So in my opinion (and I know OLM who also does business in Asia disagrees with me) the Allams are entirely correct in believing that a name change to "Tigers" would be a powerful tool to reach a new support and revenue base throughout Asia and the Middle East/Africa. SECONDLY the argument that a name change does a disservice to and ignores what CTWD'ers describe as "our heritage", "history", "tradition", is in my opinion, based on my copies of press reports going back to the early 1900s, supplemented by my 1000+ match programmes since WWII, and matches attended since 1948 plus Green Mails etc, not supported by the facts. While "Hull City" has been our "official" name since 1904, the name "Tigers" has also been widely used in the media, by supporters, and by the national football community at large, throughout this period as is very clear from the above sources. As such the history/heritage/tradition argument seems to me to be very one-sided. Personally I'm agnostic on the name change and have no strong objections to either. I do feel there are good arguments on both sides but CTWD, although its official statements have generally been moderate in tone, should disapprove over-the-top statements by individuals on here against the Allams and pro-name changers. I'm not advocating censorship, as has been claimed, but surely the debate can be conducted without all the name-calling etc. We apparently have lost a couple of good posters already today because their patience had run out. I still believe a "Name Change Sticky" would be helpful in keeping the main board free for football (non name-chance) debate.
So Microsoft and Landrover etc would do better in those countries by adding Tigers to their name or is it the quality of the product that makes them successful? In City's case on the pitch over a number years like Man.U/City, Chelsea,Arsenal etc.
What absolute bollocks that is. Explain to me the context in which this strong Tiger brand image can be leveraged? Should we change our colours and adopt a 'lucky' number motif into our identity. Why don't we just discard everything all of that memorabilia recalls and start from scratch? Your name is your identifier so let's change it, our identity and our character; great idea, if you are stupid. Why should I (or anyone else, but I speak for myself) agree to stand by while the club I have followed and supported for over 50yrs is raped of its identity for some unknown, unverified, unreliable potential supporters who will add, what exactly to our club. Is it shirt sales? On your travels did you come across many cheap copies of leading brands? You are the big I am in business so give us the detail that the owners are incapable of giving us and other experts can't see. Give me some depth to help me make that jump of faith, because the owners only tell me lies and offer contradictions to their own script. As for your SECOND point, Tigers is and always has been our nickname, no more, no less. Try reading your collection, your might just learn something. As for your last point, what a ****ing fool you are; yes I swore, you would make a saint swear and not many of them use open football forums. CTWD are responsible for their own communications and actions, they are not responsible for what anonymous posters decide to say on an unconnected football forum; are you really that daft? Do you think they should have a general meeting to recruit match-day thought control stewards to stop any Tom, **** or Harry who claims to be CTWD and uses a pseudonym from chanting something you believe to be inappropriate? As for your last point about losing posters, I can only tell you that Omega Man is having a thoughtful sabbatical because he has issues with how one moderator operates and **** all to do with CTWD and posters offering opinions; in fact he was defending exactly that which you attack. Come back to me by all means, but get at least some of your facts right.
Firstly, why go through all this for a group of asians thousands of miles away that likely won't care either way? Is it worth alienating such a large portion of your fans that pay to see the team week in week out? The second point about history I actually agree with to be honest. It wouldn't be erased or damaged, it's the future that would be. However that doesn't answer the question of why Hull Tigers would be better does it... it simply attempts to counter one of ctwd's arguments. So as far as we can tell, the ONLY 'legitimate' reason to change the name and go through all this bullshit for so long (and ongoing) is to tempt asians into buying our shirts providing they fit into the stereotype Allam appears to be pandering to. I just don't buy it. It's a shame, but the more objectively I think about it the more obvious it becomes that the only reason this is being pursued by Allam is due to his personality. Ergo, pro name changers are literally supporting the change based on lies and/or to help feed a rich old mans ego because he's spending money on us. Seriosuly now... Just one legitimate reason for Hull Tigers and we'll have a proper debate about it. Any one of you would do well to provide one that couldn't instantly be counter argued though... Allam hasn't come up with one himself yet so good luck.
Sorry, but that is bollocks. Tigers in our name or as our nickname will make no commercial difference at all. Companies want to associate themselves with success. It is of no coincidence that the best supported teams in Asia are those that domestically have won trophies and titles. We will have greater earning potential having reached an FA Cup final than if we changed our name to Hull Tigers. AA always refers to having a short name like 'Coca-Cola'. They have always been 'Coca-Cola' - They haven't shortened it. They trade on history and heritage - which is one of the most important assets of football clubs within the football league - History and heritage. Why would you want to remove one of your unique selling points?
Actually they are BAD FANS you muppet. Singing CTWD at 1904 as a LONG used chant is supporting the team as well as protesting the MAJORITY'S dislike of the the namechange and although the team will know of the protest they will see it as nothing more than team support. The boo boys on the other hand could of been construed by the players as a protest against how they where playing and affected the way they played.
What is stopping Assem Allam promoting us in Asia under the brand name "The Tigers". Ehab gave us a clue on how to do it when he was photographed with a Hull City programme from yester year with the Tigers printed in huge amber letters. The club have had a year to promote us in Asia, including an FA Cup final and have they done it? I doubt it and the reason is simple the Asian's want sustained success which is why the most popular teams are Manchester United and Liverpool.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/11100608/Newcastle-United-fans-planning-huge-protest-against-manager-Alan-Pardew-at-game-against-Hull-City.html I wondered how many Toon fans will be booing - its Ashleys club and he can do what he wants - if he thinks Pardew should be manager then the fans should respect that - however I don't think Newcastle have the type of ****er that boos their own fans that we have
So what you do to promote your association with the tiger is promote the nickname, something like "Hull City, the home of the TIGERS" mind you why anyone thinks the tiger means **** all over there anyway amazes me, I mean they actual kill tigers over there for their so called "medical properties"
They grind their cocks up, and the like. They're endangered 'cuz they keep being killed to make nice rugs. So I agree, I think there's a lack of respect for the Tiger over there, so let's call the whole thing off!
I've worked out in China, Indonesia, Japan and this whole Tiger thing is a complete load of bollocks spouted by Allam - in fact I discussed it with some of them and they find it quite insulting that he assumes they're that simple and stupid as to put money into something because of the word Tiger
If you booed are you pro name change by default? Yes If you booed are you pro Allam? Yes If you booed because your not keen on CTWD are you pro name change or just anti CTWD? PNC If you didn't sing CTID and didn't boo what are you and what do you want? A Stanley. If you woke up this morning and didn't want to see those who booed being raped by a donkey are you a plastic flasking prawn sandwich eater? Definitely.
Hundreds of 'Tiger Leisure' shops over here are being readied for a stampede of Asian fans who can't wait to get their hands on Hull Tigers merchandise !!!
