But before that 1 million quote, Ehab said there was NO sponsor who would pay more if we were to change to Hull Tigers.
That's the point. So the flawed logic behind it is that it's all bullshit (lying) or it's worth £1m. Either way, shouldn't be happening.
Ah yes this extra £1million that we could have had that has suddenly come to light. What about the extra £1million+ he raised through putting season ticket prices up?
We currently operate within the global premiership brand which is sold around the world. I believe in most countries (barring this one) every premiership game is available to watch. Out of the twenty teams, six or seven will be challenging for the top spot. These teams will probably be of most interest to foreign fans. This leaves thirteen or fourteen "also rans", teams which are trying to attract interest in the foreign market. Changing our name is an attempt to create a unique identity within the premiership, generating an increased interest in our club. Surely the viewing figures for each game in these foreign markets will be monitored, and if we can show our viewing figures are higher than the other mid table teams, it would put us in a stronger position when negotiating our sponsorship deals. Surely the value of the space on the front of our shirts would increase if we can prove we are reaching a huge number of people in the huge asian market or the rapidly increasing emerican market. Even if it "only brings in an extra million", thats twenty thousand per week. Whose wages will that pay for. Also, each million brought in is an extra million we wouldn't have, and ten extra millions is ten million! These are just my thoughts on this. And for the record, i'm not a pro name changer.
Just signing one Chinese player would raise our profile in China a thousand times more than any ****ing stupid name change.
Ordering a Special Foo Yung with chips & curry sauce from Super Wok on Portobello Street would raise our profile in China a thousand times more than any ****ing stupid name change.
You mean like when we signed Egyptian players and suddenly found ourselves with a load of new Egyptian fans? Can't disagree with you there. But I will say I can see what he's tried (past tense because he's failed) to do and why.
I had the worst Chinese I've ever had the other week. I'd avoid the place like the plague if I was you.
