Feel very sorry for Ludogorets. Played some lovely one touch stuff, worked so so hard and probably deserved at least a point out of that. Hit the post and should have had a first half pen.
Yes Spain, you're probably right but I think we both know that they must do better after all, who were their opponents, part timers?
Somewhere in Bulgaria. Had Liverpool drawn, Basel away and the double header v Real Madrid could have made life very tricky. As it stands, no pressure in Basel. They can hit them on the counter and pick off a win. A draw is still OK.
Liverpool get a penalty in the 90th minute when they're not winning? What a surprise, that wasn't a regular occurrence last season or anything...
If they have to win by a 90th minute penalty and at home I see problems in the CL for Liverpool wherever they go. Wellbeck missed a sitter or two, bad sign.
Arsenal were all over the place tonight, the only plus sides for them were that they didn't get totally tonked on the scoreline and didn't pick up any bad injuries. Would love to be playing them this weekend rather than next, to be honest.
The only reason they didn't get tonked was because Dortmund missed a hatful of chances, especially Mikharytan. Dortmund played really exciting football, full of energy closing down all over the place-I was a bit jealous although I know that is the way Poch wants us to play-if only we can manage it-without missing the chances.
It reminded me of the way Liverpool hit them last year. Harried them in midfield, gained possession and then hit them hard, with their defence all over the place.
Good point Spain but in the case of Dortmund to be safe I thought they needed a third. If they're going to miss so many chances then what will happen if they only get two or three in a match? A big zero will appear on their score sheet. We have all seen Arsenal make comebacks haven't we?
Behind this mask of wummery is the face of a football guru. I look forward to providing you all with further footballing insights, shortly.
Yeah, good predictions, HAIG. Borussia absolutely stuffed Arsenal. They just didn't give them any time on the ball at all, and Arsenal had no response. It would have been 4-0 if Dortmund had finished decently. Welbeck missed Arsenal's only three chances. Giroud would have done better. I've been convinced Ozil wasn't going to cut it for a long time. It's hard to say what is wrong with him, but he's been such a passenger I'll be surprised if even Wenger keeps him in the team for much longer. Meanwhile, Borussia were so good they made Sanchez look bad, who I've always rated.
I go on the actual score and not "Could have been" because Wellbeck could have scored altering the course of the match. The fact that Dortmund didn't score more is a worrying sign just as it is for us against Sunderland. Either the chances will keep coming and be converted or they'll dry up. So 2-0 is what we have to go on and is not insurmountable in the second leg.
