It was great to watch the feed... but diff to post anything... we looked great, persevering...... attacking at every turn...... Just a little worrying about the balls coming deep into the box.... Blackppol could easily have scored...
Thanks Yorkie, I have had problems tonight and couldn't keep up. Will be at the Vic Saturday, but not sure that I will see Deeney. The way he hobbled off didn't look good.
Gilmartin was a great sidekick to Jon Marks.... really thought out.... and sensible etc etc dare I say 'intelligent'
A win's a win in this league. We should all know better than to think anyone is up for a stuffing. Less than ideal preparation for this match against an improving Blackpool it would seem. Hopefully the goals will start to fly in this weekend for us at the Vic. It'll click sooner rather than later by the looks of things. Still problems to be sorted out but it ain't gonna happen on the back of international duty and the head coach in the hospital after a couple of full sessions. A little more patience required yet.
We still look like conceding every time the ball is played into the box - thought we just edged it tonight but were lucky to get all 3 points.
Well done to the Golden Boys, still very hopeful of a Norwich/Watford one/two next may, I don't care which way round it is, as long as we both get auto, my poor old ticker won't take the strain of the play offs!
On 3CR they said that was the first win in the North West for 5 years!? Is that true Sounded like we did create chances first half BUT so did they. Got a bit of luck at the end with backs to the wall and the missed penalty but maybe we were due some? Just have to take our chances - a top side will punish us - particularly if we are shaky in defence as suggested.
We had a number of very good chances, and should have scored more, IMO. Once we got the goal we did seem to sit back and allow pressure.... also giving away a number of free kicks in dangerous positions, although still don't think it was a penalty to them! I don't have a great deal of confidence in Gomes yet either. Times when he looks suspect... times he could have caught the ball and kept possession to relieve a little pressure but decides to punch, and one time he ran out of his area to have a go at someone, even though Blackpool had the ball to take a throw in - a couple of players had to shout at him to get back in goal. He is a good shot stopper but think he will still cost us a number of goals. Still not totally clicking yet but at least we are getting the results. Interesting to see what formation we stick with as last night seemes to be a bit of a 4-2-3-1 (or possibly 4-1-4-1) then when McGugan came off for Dyer went to more of a 4-4-2 with Dyer and Anya on the wings - which personally is how i'd prefer us to play with the pace of those on the wing, two up top, along with Tozser and Abdi centrally
