I have no idea what could be our most effective team as we seem to be very inconsistent. Add to this the injury or match fitness status of Barton, Sandro, Yun, Vargas, Taarbat, etc and we have a potential dilemna. I personally would go for a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation, but I can see Harry wanting to play with two strikers at home. If he does this then I hope that it will be 4-4-2 rather than a return to 3-5-2. I can see something like the following team: ----------------Green --------------- Isla - Caulker - Ferdinand - Yun(Traore?) Barton - Fer - Sandro - Mutch (Krancjar?) -------Vargas---------Austin-------------- I would certainly also add pace/skill in the 2nd half with subsititutes of Taarabt, Phillips or Hoillet. Whatever the team which is selected I hope that is able to get three points on Saturday.
Should add Adel for a second half splash just to mix it up. Heck, even we don't know what he'll do, let alone Stoke. Besides, he may want to show Sparkless what he's missing out on. Still think someone should drop a pre-game steamer in the away dressing room just to remind Hughes how much he still means to us.
I would drop Caulker & Rio. Play Ohnoua & Hill at CB. Isla has to play as there's no real cover. Henry should play as he seems the most consistent & fit midfielder we have. Adel needs a start as we are losing the will to live. McCarthy (you have to drop a keeper who lets in 8 in 2) Isla - Ned - Hill - Traore Vargas - Henry - Sandro - Fer - Tarrabt Austin
My fickle alarm just went off, Many on this thread have called for stability in team selections then we come out and suggest a complete change of team, me included.
Rhino. That's is certainly the managers dilemna: - Keep stability in the team - and people will demand changes - Change the team - and people will call it wrong as it destablises At the end of the day it is results that count. After a poor show at WHL all was forgiven by the win against Sunderland. Let's hope that it will be repeated and we can have 6 points after 5 matches by Saturday evening.
I'd go with the same team that beat Sunderland...and just coach/instruct them to attack. We know those players can do it- but on sunday the Management simply didn't give them a platform to perform. The only change I'd make is Yun for Hill.
It amazes me that anyone would want to drop Green after one bad game. The vast majority came on here after the game on Sunday complaining that there was a complete lack of passion displayed by the team. I'm not saying that they're wrong but the answer is not to drop Rob Green, a man that played for half an hour at Wembley with a broken thumb/finger to give us the best chance of winning the game. I'm not saying that Green should be immune from being replaced, and should undoubtedly be on a final warning, but give him a chance. What kind of message does it send to drop a player after one bad (am it was pretty bad) performance?
Just not being sentimental. Alex McCarthy is taller and has hands like dinner plates. When do you drop a keeper? We have the worst goal difference in the league. I'm not laying it all at Rob Greens door, god no, but McCarthy deserves his chance now.
I understand where you coming from but I feel we need to maintain some element of stability right now. Ideally I'd like to see McCarthy introducted in the next few months when we hopefully have something that slightly resembles a consistent starting XI. Only now I've written that do I realise what an impossible dream that is; Harry can't settle on a formation, let alone some regular starters.
