Blackpool v Watford Venue: Bloomfield Road Date: Tuesday 16 September Kick-off: 19:45 BST Team News Blackpool: Blackpool trio Steven Davies (groin), Jacob Mellis and Gary MacKenzie (both knee) remain sidelined as the Seasiders' attempt to beat Watford and secure their first win of the season. Costa Rica midfielder Jose Miguel Cubero is yet to secure a work permit. Team News Watford: Watford will be led by Ruben Martinez and Javier Pereira after Oscar Garcia was hospitalised with chest pains. Fernando Forestieri and Gianni Munari (both hamstring) are doubts while Keith Andrews is out with a calf injury. Facts about the game: Blackpool Blackpool drew 0-0 against Wolves at home on Saturday - the first time they have avoided defeat this season in all competitions. They have won only one of their last 16 games in all competitions either side of the summer. Their only win since March was 2-0 at Wigan on 26 April. Watford Watford have lost two of their last three games in all competitions. Their only win since 23 August was 4-2 against Huddersfield at home in the Championship on 30 August. Blackpool have been going through a turgid time recently. The Oyston family who own the club have done nothing to please the fans, in fact until the last week before the season began it was doubtful if they could put a team out. The current manager is at loggerheads with the owners and could be replaced very shortly if the rumours are true. According to some national newspapers he could be gone by tomorrow and replaced by Mark Robins. It would seem that the fans have taken to the current manager Jose Riga and do not want him to go. Watfords away form has been dreadful, but you really should expect three points from this game. With Wolves away at Charlton and Norwich away at Brentford this surely has to be a chance to move up the table again. The OFH prediction: A scrappy away win.
Thanks so much for the thread! This is going to be a hellishly long trip if we lose so I I see a Watford win! 3-1 of course
If we have aspirations of automatic promotion, and with the current turmoil at Blackpool, this really is a game we need to win, and win well. Of course it won't make or break our season, but a goal apiece for Deeney and Vydra, and a good performance all round will certainly gain some confidence. That said.... this sort of fixture (ie; bottom, off form) always seems to be one of those matches we struggle to exert our authority! So, sweepstake on whether we give away a penalty or get a red card?
Who is tonight's referee? One who possesses the facility for independent thought or a total incompetent following the FL line without any idea of deviation or assessing the situation.
Apparently its being streamed lived but would seem strange with Champions league games going on: http://www.wiziwig.tv/broadcast.php?matchid=280512&part=sports Take our chances is the order of the day - should get a few but then they actually don't give many goals away and managed to draw with Wolves. I suspect Parades will come in for Hoban and maybe Dyer as they added some pace on Saturday. Be nice not to put ourselves on the back foot early...
Does the former describe any FL referee? Hoping for a win to lift the gloom of Saturday's defeat and Oscar's hospitalisation. If Doyley plays tonight, will it count as yet another different manager? Who is manager?
Thanks for the thread! Turmoil is relative we could well be in it too, new manager in hospital!!!!! I hope we win, 0-4.
It is such a shame OG is in hospital - we needed him to settle in quickly. Mind you that is a selfish view and really I just hope he is OK
Watford starting XI v Blackpool: Gomes; Paredes, Ekstrand, Angella, Pudil; Anya, Tozser, Abdi, McGugan; Deeney, Vydra.
Jon Marks ‏@jonmarks72 5m Not sure it will be a 4-4-2 for #watfordfc in fact! Will confirm later but could be 4-2-3-1 I'm hearing!! Blackpool will be the same.
