Both teams have started the season well and have surprised most pundits who were forecasting doom and gloom for both clubs. Our old boy Gary Monk has made a great start to his managerial career and has Swansea playing an attractive passing game with big goal threats in Bony and another ex Saint Nathan Dyer. That said in our current form we should go there full of confidence. Hopefully we have no new injury worries so Ron has a difficult selection conundrum. Does he go with the team that put Newcastle to the sword or give starts to Wanyama, Gardos and Mane. I think we badly need to win the midfield so would play Vic to mark Shelvey and co out of the game and cut off the supply line to Dyer. My side would be Fraser Clyne Fonte Toby Bertrand Morgan Vic Cork Tadic Pelle Long Subs Boruc Gardos Maya Davis JWP Mane Mcqueen That squad should hopefully be more than a match for Swansea. I'm sure there will be goals in this one so I'm going for a 3-1 Saints win and another 3 points. Long, Pelle and Tadic to score. COYR! Come on lamb, put some effort into the formation. We will not be playing 4-4-2! Oh and I'd rather have Vic on Sigurdsson.
I'm sure you can use this one. If I'd started one you argumentative lot would have wanted the match thread
I'm liking how we've started and i think Swansea are in a false position and will start to drop down the league, i'm going to confidently predict a away win with both teams to score. Stick that in with Arsenal and Liverpool and boom 60/1
I reckon we'll line up; -------------------- Bony -------------------- Montero ----------- Siggy --------------- Dyer ---------------------------------------------- ---------------- Ki ----- Shelvey ------------- ---------------------------------------------- Taylor ----- Williams --- Fernandez ----- Rangel ----------------- Fabianski ------------------- I'm expecting a good tight game...I see this as a 6 pointer as we are direct rivals for the mid table spots (both clubs will have ambitions of a top 10 finish). I think Morgan Schneiderlin is top, top class. I hope he's playing wide right instead of CM as we'll have more of a chance of dominating the possession then. Will be interesting to see Jack Cork in action, a player we have been linked to over the previous 2 summers, I think our potential weakness is the CM at the moment. With Leon out Ki and Shelvey are likely to start in the middle for us....they are both good players when we are on top and on the front foot but neither are defensively minded....Wanyama and Cork could dominate us in there (If you were playing 4-5-1 with Schneiderlin in there as well I would be very pessimistic indeed), we'll have to wait and see. Clyne is a threat to us if he can get forward lots. So far our left-back Neil Taylor has had a shaky start. Your front 2 look like a pain in the arse to be honest....Long chasing everything and harrying everybody and Pelle a physical goalscorer who looks strong in the air. We are likely to start Fernandez as Amat is out injured. I hope he has a strong home debut in him as you'll be a test. I'm hoping that Siggy can find some space and the speed and trickery on our wings (2 from Montero, Routledge and Dyer) will give you lots of problems and create chances for either Bony or Gomis.....Monk might surprise us all yet and start with both up front. Should be a good game, good luck lads!
Hmm, I think score draw or we will sneak the win, but only by one goal. I think Cork, Wanyama and Schneiderlin all need to start. Swansea like possession and we need numbers in midfield: Forster Clyne Fonte Toby Bertrand Wanyama Cork Schneiderlin Tadic Pelle Long Wanyama won't give Sigurdsson anything and atm he is their main threat. I'd like to say Mane to start but I don't know how well he defends and Long will track back and help defend against Routledge/Dyer.
I remember last 2 games at The Liberty, Us and Swans fans saying how we both play the right way and should be a cracking game etc. and we've had a 0-0 and a 0-1 with the most scrappy goal in Lambert's Southampton career. So with that all in mind..... 5-3 to the mighty Saints
Should be a good game with two teams looking to build on a strong start. Have been impressed with how Swansea have done in their brief time in the PL...surprised the pundits who like to automatically write off promoted sides and then (should you confound them) predict second season slump. Swansea and Saints have both proved them wrong. On paper, I can see us getting a win, but it will be close and it is rare for Saints to get 3 consecutive league wins. Another test for Koeman's management skills.
