I think most European countries probably hope Scotland stay in the UK- because if they leave then UK more likely to leave the EU. Also, countries with separatist groups will not want Scotland to leave. NATO members won't want one of their allies to be weakened.

You f**wit. Carney clearly says they can have a currency union if they give up any pretence of economic sovereignty. So could Ireland, Japan, the US and Mexico, if they really want to use Sterling. Can't stop them - they just can't print or produce their own notes or coins and expect them to be honoured. It'll be a currency union in much the same way as people in occupied Europe could use the Reichsmark in the 40's. So yes, it can 'work'... but not at all like the vision Salmond has being trying to sell up until this weekend when he practically gave up the ghost and switched to attacking the BBC. Only the flat-earthers like yourself now refuse to concede that, like the Pope locking up Gallileo for denying a geocentric universe.

As for MY Gaza thread, that I set up to provide donation links, btw (did you donate Sis, or did you use that money to soup-up your hard-drive to play more online Warcraft games with your fellow propeller-heads in between tracking the lizards and the Illuminati between yourselves?) I don't not apologise for being outraged at the murder of three Israeli teenagers, just that I said it on a thread about a noble act of the Algerian team donating their WC wages to the people of Gaza. After that you f**ing hijacked it to spout every anti-Jewish conspiracy since the protocols of Zion, but, despite being asked, you wouldn't set your own f**ing thread up, would you?

As said, I admit I'm wrong. You still espousing the moon-landings were hoaxed and that black holes are giant magnets? None of which are as comical as the one about 911 being NSA-controlled missiles, and that all those photos and live films (and eye-witness reports from hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers) were all actually deluded by hypnotising-thunderbirds that looked like 767's? And all this just destroy a building close by - why didn't they just blow that up then?

I repeat, if I were Scottish I'd probably still vote yes - but only on a gut-based, emotional anti-Westminster feeling. The economic argument (at least as far as the currency goes) is dead in the water, and with it the cornerstone of what Salmond has been trying to calm the fears of pensioners (especially) and others too. And Tobes is right, that if Scotland votes to go independent (and I say good luck to them) that any of our political representatives , including Labour (even if it was led by your hero Galloway) would then turn round and put the RoUK's money on the line by propping up their liabilities, then risk going to their own electorate and trying to get re-elected. That's not spite feller, just common sense.

It's almost as if we're being asked to pay reparations - and Scotland entered this f**ing union of its own accord, it wasn't conquered. If they want to go their own way, good luck to them. We've no reason to pay for it like the Krauts ending up paying for the Greece so that the Euro wouldn't collapse.

Salmond just been on C4 confirming that he's recently been consulting with Murdoch. What's it like to be a News International stooge, Sis?

Just seen Irvine welsh destroy Martin Amis hands down, on every level, at the end of C4 news. You see, THAT'S why I'd vote yes if I were Jock, not Samond's grubby, nonsensical arguments about currency, arcs of prosperity and other such drivel.

Laughing at UIR, his existence makes no impact either side of the border..

UIR, you dont matter your opinion doesnt matter, the only opinion that matters is a Scot's opinion and only a voting Scot at that.

So take your self importance and cram it where Matth touches you :D

I think we have established, have we not, that the opinion of the voters of the RoUk certainly do count in terms of the sterling issue, and not just in a spiteful 'we're taking our ball home with us' stance.

Supposedly Clinton told Adams during the Good Friday Agreement that the future was in the hands of the Nationalists and whether they could outbreed the Unionists, and to some extent it is. It has to be said that the successive central Westminster governments from Thatcher onwards that smashed the postwar consensus and employed neo-liberal economic, slash and burn policies have hardly endeared themselves to any of the regions of the UK in the post-industrial age (and that includes Blair and Mandelsohn sucking Murdoch's cock too). Subsequently, there's hardly any reason for anyone of non-unionist affiliations to feel any loyalty (no pun intended) to a Home-Counties, property-price obsessed UK when push comes to shove.

Wouldn't surprise me that in my daughter's lifetime, if not mine, that Ulster firstly went independent, then joined Eire. And the way things are going, they'd then be joined in that eulogistic Celtic "Arc of Prosperity" by a bankrupt Scotland after it's oil runs out and Unionists turn to drinking Japanese whisky out of spite. :emoticon-0112-wonde

    Quite a read that donga.<laugh>

The Ulster-Scots(Unionists) love their flag waving parades as do their Unionist loving cousins in Scotland, they'll all have to emigrate to Netherfield Road if the yes vote wins and the status quo in the north changes.<yikes>

Just watching Newsnight from Dundee and I'm worried - if they go independent would my Beano and Dandy annuals, sorry my DAUGHTER'S annuals, go up in price? That worries me more than my mortgage with the BoS. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

That's more than a little desperate Page.

If Scotland did vote YES the likelyhood is that Unionism in Northern Ireland would be strengthened both internally and bythe support of disaffected Scotsmen

Wouldn't really matter if Scots Unionists are disaffected or not, a yes vote in Scotland weakens Northern Ireland's existence, Unionist polititions have already confirmed that Dave.

The Unionist ideology is outdated and doesn't work in today's modern age, money will come before Britain's loyalty to a few thousand people in the northeast corner of Ireland, the 6 counties cost the rest of the UK megabucks to sustain its existence, England and Wales would eventually wave goodbye and pull the plug.

Only if Scotland votes yes, but that won't happen, the no vote will win at the count.

Personally I'm quite divided on this issue. I see myself as a unionist and have family links to all the countries of the UK.

In some ways i feel let down by the scottish, just because they have some natural reserves they think they would be better off not sharing with the rest of the UK, but I can also understand that they also feel let down by westminster as many do in the north of England. How quickly they forget though the bailing out of the mostly scottish owned banks and the much larger proportion of government jobs north of the border.

If the scots truly want independance then they should have it, but thats it the end of the tie, no coming back with their hands out when the oil is gone which its projected to do in the short term. Surrendering all rights to British citizenship, NHS, EU and the pound, I don't see why we should show them any courtesy afteral its independence they want, they don't just get to choose the good parts of that.

The reason I feel it could be good for the rest of us is that i believe it could be great for the development of the north of england for one it could mean more government jobs in the north transferred from scotland. It also creates opportunities for investment in the north with the development of the shale gas industry likely to get a major boost. Other renewable energy initiatives would likely be moved from scotland to the north of england providing much needed jobs and new industries that the north can lead. What I'd also like to see is the north become the powerhouse of the british socialist politics, a title that has always been given to scotland, I want to see the north of england play a much greater role at westminster.

Either way I think the Union has been damaged by this, and with further powers likely to be given to scotland in a no vote, while scotland spends under a UK guise it will be the north of England forgotten again forced into yet more cuts to subsidise scottish spending, which is why I think a yes vote might be better.

That has always been the Republican hope Page. Just ask yourself why if "money will come before Britain's loyalty to a few thousand people", the Falkland Islands have not been abandoned to their fate. But as you say I still believe that the No vote will win on Thursday.

You are so boring Sisu! 1 man making unsubstantiated claims in JUNE of this year that haven't been taken up - even in academic circles for goodness sake!

What the hell are you trying to do? Seems like just a pathetic attempt to fill yet another bit of cyber space with rubbish.
