I really like Eddie Howe but he left Burnley because of his wife wanting to stay in Bournemouth - If Burnley is too far north for his family then I think we're stuffed!

I heard it's because she finds Harry Rednapp quite attractive.

The thought of him walking his bulldogs along the beach in Sandbanks with his QPR crested speedos on is enough to make any woman moist.

Not happening just yet but a couple more s**te results and this thread becomes ultra-relevant!

Then again, looking at that BBC report, it says "Newcastle manager backed by club owner Mike Ashley" but nowhere is there a quote either direct or (sports) in-direct that actually has anyone at Newcastle United saying anything.

It's not dead just because someone at the 'beeb' says so :)

Wonder if Tim Sherwood would be worth a go? Yes, i know he's another southerner, but he was more than willing to change the team around at Spuds and also gave his youth player opportunities. Wasn't Les Ferdinand on his coaching staff too - he may well provide the much needed link to the fans from the dressing room.

I really don't like the approach Tim Sherwood has. He gives it 'the big one', acts and speaks like he's been a PL Manager for years when in fact he's nothing more than a caretaker manager who somehow convinced Daniel Levy to give him a perm deal.

    Just a thought...

If Bruce did come here, I would love Pardew to get the Hull job just to imagine the look on both his and Ben Fatty's faces when they realised that they had been forced to co-exist again!!

It’s probably no exaggeration that an out-of-work manager would have to be fairly desperate to work for a ludicrously unpopular chairman blessed with an almost heroic disregard for the thoughts and opinions of the put-upon supporters who file through the turnstiles of his stadium from game to game. Whisper it, but in the event of Pardew’s dismissal this could be just the job for one Malky Mackay.

The smart move would be Steve McLaren.

If we needed a gaffer, I'd want him. We don't.

Whether he is mentally challenged enough to work under Ashley, who knows, but what you get with McLaren is a manager who understands using players in their best positions, plays to strengths, and genuinely improves players.

Joking bout Ashley aside, and despite your pessimism about the calibre of manager that might fancy it, there isn't likely to be a bigger club looking for a manager for this season.

I think you'd be surprised at the standard of candidates, so I hope, sincerely that you keep Pardew, as long as he doesn't take you down <ok>

I think Pulis suprised a few people with playing better football with CP than his Stoke team were famous for, we have to be wary of managers who have a good season and win PM Manager of the year however......we know how that story can end. Bruce hardly quashed the rumour with him being linked, it sounded like a disguised come and get me plea , think he could help get more out of our team in the short term however he seems to find it hard to take that next step up the league from mid-table, this could be his year at Hull however. McClaren has yet to prove anything to me, the football for the main part in his Boro days was attrocious and crown numbers fell even lower than the average of 32.
I wouldn't be surpised if Lee Clark was offered the role, an apparent crowd pleaser who will be grateful for the oppertunity so will "follow the regime of the almighty leader", and probably cheap.
My preference if anyone cares would be Moyes. I have been put off recently by the apparent tales from Ferdinand's book however I don't think he will get us into any more trouble that Pardew will this season and he seems to be able to adapt to the current conditions of a football club. He had relative consistancy at Everton despite a fluctuating budget and Ferguson must have seen something promising for him to be preferred to the role than the Mourino's, Van Gaal's etc. of this world. Could be cos he is Scottish...

I have nothing against the bloke but Christ if he came here it would simply add more cancer to the club. He would mean well but it would be a ****ing disaster.

I love Lee Clark and the way he shows us he is a genuine fan. I'd like to keep it that way though, and bringing him in as manager would spoil that. He has shown nothing to prove that he has the ability to be a top class manager. Maybe one day, but he doesn't look on that path at the minute.
