What are your thoughts on the low paid public sector workers who will be out on strike today ?

I think many of them should count themselves lucky to even have jobs, especially jobs where they can afford to go and strike and not risk being fired for it.

I think that for every teacher who does work hard and does do a good job there are many more who have a ridiculousy easy ride and do a very poor job.

There are people in far tougher jobs who get no "right" to complain and there are people who can't even get jobs because of the current situation in this country.

I work longer hours and get paid less than the ****ing teachers, as do many other people I know but we don't go on strike. Partly because we'd get fired if we did and partly because we realise we're among the lucky ones who actually have employment.

Today's action isn't just about teachers. It's about public sector workers getting shafted by this government <ok>

You should try and do some research because in the UK you can be fired for going on strike

The right to strike is an important right for workers. It should never be frowned upon, as a strike probably helped improve the pay/hours in the job you're currently doing. If you think people strike in this country, have a look at what happens in France. This is a country full of pussies.

Same could be said about most lines of work. You have no stats on this, it's just a wild assumption you've made because you're jealous your job isn't good enough.

Like what? Please give me an example of jobs where employees don't have the right to complain? People that can't get jobs in this country are either not qualified enough, unwilling to move or just lazy.

Do you have work to do when you get home? Teachers probably have the same amount of work to do at home as they do in the classroom. If you're not happy with your job, get a better one or change career paths, there will always be someone with a better job/position than you. (ie Hugh Hefner)

Reading the Daily Mail will not help you in life <ok>

The Government need to reign in the crazy pension agreements.

The Public purse cannot afford to pay the pensions of people who may well live until they are 90+.

    It's simple economics.

Or would you be happy in 20 years when the country is completely bankrupt and we are all on the streets like Greece?

**** them, if they want their lovely big pensions then they should contribute more to it in way of taxes.

It's only the teachers I have a problem with, especially the ones who only work in primary schools because it's hardly the most difficult of jobs.

If I was to strike I would be fired, as would most people who don't work in the public sector

You don't even know what my job is <doh> I have a job that a thoroughly enjoy, has already taught me many new skills and has great career prospects.

You honestly think that people who don't work in the public sector and don't have a union wouldn't be punished for complaining and refusing to work? There are plenty of people who are willing to work and have qualifications but still can't get a job because the job market is so saturated. I spent a year after graduating doing voluntary work and work experience whilst applying for job after job after job, most of which I was over qualified for, but I still couldn't get anywhere because for every job there were hundreds of applicants. I am far more qualified than several teachers I know (primary school teachers).

I don't have to but I choose too because I want to offer the best for my clients and because the workload is large so I can't fit everything into the normal working hours.

I get 20 days holiday a year, I get paid no over time, I don't even get paid for my lunch break - a similar situation to many others. Teachers have it much easier than many others so they should stop ****ing complaining.

It is a thankless job, teaching. They are not the problem children of the public sector. The problem is the Civil Servant and the grossly overpaid admin staff in just about every Government department. This is where the cuts should start, not front line services.

You don't get fired for going on strike, that's illegal.

Everything else you said just proves you have a ****ty job and you're jealous of teachers.

You should have followed more at school <ohtheirony>

It's probably because you're a thick **** who didn't bother to work in school. You've only got yourself to blame <ok>.

It may be but employers will never give that as a reason. They will really scrutinise your work and find a reason to fire you no matter how small that reason is

I'm annoyed that they get half the ****ing year off, get paid more than people in many other lines of work and yet still complain and strike (without any fear of punishment).
