No, go west and a few centuries back.

It was and is very "isolated".

Is it perhaps the ancient Kingdom of Mercia, ruled by King Offa, who constructed Offa's Dyke to keep out the Welsh?

Technically I think British embassies are part of Britain - so could it be the Embassy in Teheran ?

With your clue you seem to be looking for an isolated island (isola) in the west of UK - Isle of Man?

The Isle of Man is not technically a part of the UK.

Joe Jordan didn't pull out a plum for Harry?

    Little Jack Horner
    Sat in the corner,
    Eating a Christmas pie;
    He put in his thumb,
    And pulled out a plum,
And said 'What a good boy am I'!

Outstanding observation, you must be lab first aider...

    What?

Much more remarkable than those to close observers of our coaching team.

Could it be the Isle of Lundy ? Which was apparently occupied by Barbary Pirates for 5 years who flew the Ottoman flag there.

    Joe Jordan played for Milan.

That's what I think of you: Jordan with Milan's shirt sponsors back in 1981, well before Gattuso's headbutt

Gennaro Gattuso may have tried to laugh off his headbutting of Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan by joking 'I just spoke to him in Scottish' but the 33-year-old should quit while he's still walking.

Jordan may be 59 now and look like a kindly uncle with his glasses and balding pate but his football fire burns a fiercely as when he proudly pulled on shirts for Scotland, Leeds, Manchester United and even Milan during a 20-year playing career.

Now that's an interesting selection - that might be it. On a family vacation we once visited Lundy Island taking a small vessel, "The Lundy Gannet" from Bridgewater with rather rough seas and many puking there way over - I recall onboard I won a chocolate bar for being the first person to see a seal! Very interesting place to visit.
