As a Saints fan, this looked very true to me for the whole match. Our last goal was 41 passes strung together without a hint of a tackle from any Newcastle player*. Every single Saints player had at least one touch - you made us look better than Real Madrid for that goal; we played well, but I think you made us look like Champions league winners. Seriously, what your team needs most is an injection of passion from somewhere.

*Take a look if you can bear it: http://wall.saintsfc.co.uk/Article/783223-VIDEO-Schneiderlins-stunner-caps-41-pass-move

been to the last three saints VS nufc matches and each time I thought it couldn't get any worse. I Just find it funny that the two clubs seemingly had the same problems after last season. But one invested smartly and paid big(ish) money where needed to ensure a good team

I'm feeling all MrT like I told you so! <laugh> I went on and on about this failed transfer policy for a long time. We are not buying quality. We have had a couple of bits of success with the likes of Ba, Cabaye and Debuchy buying cheap. They ahev rocked up, performed to a high level and shown a real fighting desire to do well. They are in a minority though. I don't mind a bit of foreign talent, and its not all about havign english grit or bulldog spirit. Its about striking a balance which we have completely missed in favour of chasing pounds signs!

This bunch of players don't have the correct character when the **** hits the fan. The manager is not the right manager. He is terrible when under the pump, gets a scrambled brain and gives daft remarks. We have bought a load of average players. Some have decent pedigree but you need more than that.

Yeah, from the outside I think Ashley has been tying the same strategy as we've done this summer - essentially buy cheap, sell big - but totally failing at it.
I'll admit, I'm surprised it worked so well for us, but then we got a Dutch Manager in, and almost every club in their league works like that, so he knew how to cope and where to get replacements (ironically, partly by raiding dutch clubs).
Ashley & Pardew, on the other hand just seem to buy random players they've heard of that might make money, instead of players to fit your system. Anyone can see you need a big target man if you're going to play the route one you tried against us.

I feel bad for you guys, our club had it's spine ripped out in the summer, but your club has had it's soul sapped away. We got a decent transplant - I'm not sure you can transplant souls.:emoticon-0101-sadsm
