We haven't. Hope Harry's bedtime reading last night was "The art of the counter-attack" and not "The seige of the Alamo"
Utd are a much better side so although my head said we would be well beaten my hearth was hoping for a top performance and perhaps sneak a draw. I still see the same problems in our team that has plagued us now for several years. We don't press high enough, therefore we allow the opposition to come onto us too easily. We have too many players prancing about the pitch, therefore not enough energy and running the hard yards. We're not physical enough and therefore stand off the opposition too much and not get stuck into tackles. Watch the highlights again, too many of out players seemed in awe and all of the above points were sadly too evident.
I am in total agreement with you Nuts. Our performance was listless. Where was our Ciaran Fitzgerald? Someone in the dressing room should have been asking "Where's our fcuking pride?". I found it unbearable to watch. I think those on here that have been expressing their frustration are quite justified to do so.
Match of the Day 3: Manchester United still have work to do Presenter Mark Chapman is joined by Jermaine Jenas and Mark Lawrenson as they look back on Manchester United's 4-0 win over QPR at Old Trafford. Lawrenson describes QPR's performance as "abject" but, along with Jenas, is full of praise for Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind. However, both pundits believe Manchester United will not have an easier match all season. http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29198759
That may well be the case about not having an easier match all season but we can almost guarantee that with Man U beginning to build up some momentum, there'll be some teams who get beaten but a lot greater margin than just the four goals. Our game (while the talking point now) will be long forgotten. The way they are playing at the moment, the likes of Newcastle are going to get hurt when they go up against them next.
With the greatest respect Hoilett, I don't give a fiddlers fu•k about Newcastle or how many goals other teams will concede to Utd. In general, our team has played without obvious desire, energy and drive since our previous promotion season under Warnock. We ain't pretty to watch. In fact, let's be honest, we're awful to watch.
Watched the game on the box on Sunday lads and have to say that I agree with many on here that feel that you gave United too much respect ... almost felt like you were embarassed guests at a private party, on your best behaviour so as not to upset the hosts who had spent a fortune on the decor and catering ... As a neutral I have to say that whilst their flair players looked very good at times, they still looked vulnerable at the back ... but Armand Traore (in the scond half) seemed to be the only one of your lads that was really upfor having a go at them ... running at them with any sort of conviction ... and when he did they looked shakey ... you needed more of the same from elsewhere in the team ... We have them at our place on Saturday and the pundits are already writing us off now that the 'Galacticos' have hit the ground running ... but we are no respectors of reputation and I I expect us to take the game to them with real pace and conviction (and some degree of skill too) ... that could cost us given their undobuted individual component parts ... but I still feel that they can be 'got at' and if we can put them under constant pressure, defensively there may be some cracks and their confidence still fragile... Good luck for your next.
So according to queenslanders bizarre logic on the match day thread yesterday - Mark Lawrenson, Stan Colleymore & Jermaine Jenas should also apply for HR's job as they are also highlighting everything that the "Johnny Know-it-all"s" (his words not mine) flagged on here yesterday in terms of the ineptitude of our tactics and performance.....but apparently we know nothing and are not entitled to an opinion unless we apply for the managers job - which incidentally isn't vacant...
Got to say I agree with that. We gave them way way too much respect. Traore for a few minutes didn't. But after that he also seemed to be told stay back, defend.
I hope they don't!! I want all teams in our mini league to lose every game. (Although I fully expect Leicester to be in the top half of that league and out of danger).
