I'd love to reply but I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say. Any chance of dumbing it down a bit for a stupid Jock?
This is a serious question. If the yes campaign wins will all Members of Parliament for Scottish constituencies be excluded from Westminster immediately and also will Scotland be excluded from the 2015 General Election. It is obviously not appropriate for them to have a vote on matters only applying to England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
I don't blame the Scots for not wanting to be governed from Westminster, which doesn't have any sort of mandate from the Scottish people. I accept any argument that Scotland loses out in the round in most areas because of this Government's policies. However, independence is not the answer. Devolving more powers may be. A reform of the parliamentary system is long overdue for all of us too. The integration of so many aspects of life with the UK cannot easily be severed - and certainly not in a way that is likely to be beneficial for Scotland in the short or medium term. Long term is something none of us can predict, but individuals are likely to have to be prepared to pay a high financial price for a significant period to get stability and success in the future - higher prices and higher taxation for public spending to begin with. To my mind, Salmond is only concerned with his ideology and has not addressed the wider concerns raised at all. He should have a clear manifesto to address all the economic and financial issues Scotland will have to face, yet he doesn't appear to have a coherent plan on any single one e.g currency, membership of the EU, jobs, public spending. If I was a Scottish worker in a factory supplying parts to the defence industry, will I have still a job? What currency will I be paid in? Will my wages go up (if I have a job) if, as predicted, prices and taxes go up? Will banks lend me money for a mortgage? What has Salmond done to reassure me on any of these issues when there have been public statements from leading companies, banks etc suggesting I will be worse off in every respect?
No, there is an agreed timescale, it will take some time before Scots MPs are booted out from their cushy jobs.
And if someone breaks into your house, then the police shouldn't respond, as it's your own responsibility. If there's a fire in your house, then the fire brigade should let it burn down, as it's your responsibility. You shouldn't use public roads, you should build your own, as getting around is your responsibility. Medical insurance as it's dealt with in the USA and other similar systems is not just extremely crap, but it actually ends up costing the country more than universal healthcare. The only people that benefit from it are those that run the private companies who administer it and sell the drugs and equipment. Anyone that supports something like that simply hasn't looked into it or knows the truth and is pushing an agenda. I'd assume that you're the former, TMT. I'm still appalled that the public have to club together to pay for things like the Air Ambulances via charity. Sensible societies look after those who are at their worst.
It's your responsibility to secure your house as best you can, double glazing, window locks etc PNP. No the Police should respond because the taxpayer pays for the Police, Fire Service etc. I do not see the connection between your points and looking after your own health. Now here's a serious question. If Scotland becomes independent then does it open it's own embassies throughout the world?
Spain, how much a month does the average binge drinker spend on booze? By reducing the booze medical insurance can easily be afforded by those who get drunk, get hurt and expect the NHS to cough up for what are largely self inflicted injuries. If I spend more than families have to feed their kids it's because I HAVE WORKED TO BE IN THAT POSITION. Those people should somehow try and improve their incomes rather than rely on the state.
The taxpayer should pay for the NHS for those who genuinely need it and not for those who can afford to pay their own way PNP.
I read somebody called 999 for a broken finger nail. Also somebody called because they couldn't sleep. Make them pay for callouts and they won't waste valuable time and resources for s**t like that.
No, that's just what you think should happen, TMT. As I've already pointed out, the medical system that you want would be more expensive to the taxpayer and less effective. Why would anybody think that was a good idea? The police should only respond to those who need it and not to those that can afford private security. The fire brigade should only respond to those who need it and not to those that can afford private fire services. Why draw the line at healthcare?
Why would that be required? In case you did not know (and apparently you don't) at present, as a UK citizen, I can go to any EU Country's embassy around the world and ask for aid and they are obliged to help me.
Your health is personal to yourself and should be treated as such. Fires start from out of people's control largely as do crimes. If a drunk driver causes an accident then he should pay reparations, not the taxpayer. A drug addict should pay for his or her own treatment as it's self inflicted as is drunkenness. If you're going to participate in a dangerous pastime then you should pay if you get hurt. Insurance companies ask that question anyway. Sorry, our health should be our own responsibility. No Dev, I'm asking. if you are not in the EU then will there be embassies in Wales,Ireland etc. There are EU embassies in the Uk at the moment so even if you are in the EU after independence will there be embassies in Wales, England and Ireland?
How is somebody responsible for any number of health problems, like leukemia or being struck by lightning any more than they are for fires or crimes? You still haven't explained why anyone would want a system that's both more expensive for the taxpayer and less effective, TMT. The Tory policies of greed and psychopathy just don't work, I'm afraid. If you screw society, then it comes back to screw you. It's just a bad idea.
