Is it possible to walk along the Thames, all the way past the Houses of Parliament? Or would one have to leave the river and go around the Palace? Thanks
No, you can't walk between the HP and the Thames, have to go through Parliament Square. The Houses of Parliament have terraces which front right onto the Thames so there is no road/path.
On the other side you can walk past without having to leave the path but WY is spot on about having to go through Parliament square for the other side.
If you are coming to London, do bear in mind that it is now obligatory for non-Londoners to do the Lambeth Walk. Failure to do so will result in the imposition of a hefty fine. However, it is no longer obligatory to wear a pearly jacket.
If you are going near the Hof P please put a bomb in the cellar. This lot are useless, Guy Fawkes had the right idea.
I could be. One thing you learn quickly about us "cockneys" (apart from the fact, of course, that we are extremely cheeky), is that we can sell sand to the Arabs. No income tax, no VAT, no money back, no guarantee; black or white, rich or poor, we'll sell jellied eels by the score, son.
Peckham is not in the East End . As someone born in London Hospital, Whitechapel, I know the difference. South London wideboys.
Hence, the reason I put "cockneys" in inverted commas. What you have to understand, SD, is that everyone from North of Watford believes that all Londoners are cockneys.
When I used to visit mum,she insisted I bought her Jellied Eels and a pint of cockels.Used to make her day,week,year.....
Northerners believe that that is the kind of food we eat all the time. There are folk in North Yorkshire who believe that the streets of London are paved with gold.
District or Circle lines are best. You can get off right next to the Houses of Parliament, get back on and finish up at the Tower
Is that Whitechapel? I remember visiting a mate there years ago. I seem to remember it was right opposite Mile End station.
